Stonehaven Dwarves Vol. 2

Recommended Posts

They're very good dwarves, and I like the variety in them. If I was running a dwarf based campaign soon I'd snag some, but my world is dominantly humans, halflings, and some elves. So.... I think I can pass. My weaknesses are elsewhere.

Maybe when ibsee some greens.  These seem a little to light and hunched rather than stocky to me, but I have liked a lot if the previous efforts and a few more female dwarves would be good.  We will see

It’s always puzzled me why Mike doesn’t have at least some greens ready to show off whenever he launches a kickstarter.

Speaking of. In the comments section Stonehaven had posted 3 days ago that they were planning to post some pics of greens that day.

So far that hasn’t happened.

I've never tried Stonehaven miniatures before. How do they compare in quality to Reaper? The price is good, assuming at least of mid to upper bones quality. If they are closer to Nolzur's Marvelous Miniatures humanoids, I'd probably begrudgingly paint 2 of them, then throw the rest out in frustration.

They're all metal except the plastic based and resin monsters.

The detail is sharp, but they're more stylized than hyper realistic.

Every sculpt is dead on to the concept art.

The only issue I have sometimes is that the designs are a bit flat for casting purposes.

What Lidless said.

If you enjoy painting Reaper minis then I’d say you should enjoy painting these.

Man, I'm always the last to know about these....

As far as if Stonehaven are fun to paint, I'll give an enthusiastic yes!  I think I've painted maybe six so far and they have all been a joy.

Now I just need some spare cash..

Oh man, that makes it hard to resist. On one hand, I just finished 3 Borin Ironbrows today and feel like the last thing I need is more dwarves. On the other hand... more minis never hurt anyone, right?

Oh well, might as well just back it for the full set. Anything less is just financially irresponsible.

Like others, the first Stonehaven Dwarf Kickstarter was my first ever. I also backed their Elf, Gnome, and Half-Orc Kickstarters. Lack of funds and/or overlap with Bones Kickstarters prevented me from getting in on later ones. I loved the dwarves I got the first time around, and the quality only got better. Mr. Evans skill has noticeably improved over the years.

I may have to jump in on a completionist level for this one.

Just ran across this. I’m not familiar with the company, but they seem pretty established in the historical line. Anyone have thoughts on these? The price per figure seems reasonable for good resin.
