Stonehaven Dwarves Vol. 2

That's generally a really bad sign. It used to mean the project would fail but these days some squeak through with low backer engagement.

It’s interesting to see how much has changed since Stonehaven first Dwarf kickstarter and this one.

Obviously this has a lot fewer backers but there’s also very little commenting going on in the kickstarter comments section.

The first KS had a very lively and interactive comments area that gave Mike a lot of feedback and ideas which he listened to and acted upon which I think helped him produce more interesting minis.

I don't know about Kickstarter in general, but a virtually dead comments section seems to have become fairly common in ones I've looked at.

After the regular backers give each other high fives that's pretty much it, unless something comes up for people to have a good moan about.

Yeah, this set of greens is weaker than the first, but I feel this was the weakest group concept art-wise anyways.

Still not bad though, except the wizard, didn't realise his hat had no brim, it just looks so weird.

Kickstarter comments have become fairly common in most of the ones I follow, including those that used to be lively in previous projects.  Bones seem to be the only ones that stay busy during the actual pledge through fulfillment, and even that isn't as frequent as it was.

I'd say it's nostalgia, but Stonehaven had some CRAZY busy comment sections.

I'm still hoping we see more Sidekick options like they had in the Elves KS.  The dWARforged are pretty great.

it's also that a lot of repeat projects aren't pulling in as many backers as previously (even where the spend is maintained), and backers are more experienced so have less need to ask questions which then start discussions

(and the new KS reply feature is a nuisance in the comments as people use it and unless everybody involved in actually watching in real time those responses can get buried far enough back that the first poster never sees them so thinks nobody's talking to them so why bother commenting)

I want to get them, but I still haven't painted any from the first set, and I really hate his poses.  Some of these are better though.

Oooh. Middle left. I spy flatmodelism there (unless the axe is angled backwards a bit).

That's something that came up with Stonehaven's previous KS's. The elves especially had that problem, due to being very skinny, almost gaunt, in design. I think he tries a little too hard to ensure the final mini is a single piece.

All in all, I really like what I see so far, guess I'm the odd duck in that way. I'm really hoping the female monk gets unlocked, but I'm not too confident at the moment.

Mike has a history of moving stretch goal amounts around when things get slow and are in danger of not getting reached.

We’ll see if that continues.

Oh yeah. The early Stonehaven kickstarters, especially the first dwarf and the gnome one, had very busy comments sections.

The nice thing was, it was all very positive and helpful. A lot like the Reaper forums.

I think what happened is that there have been so many more mini kickstarters started by new companies over the past few years that it has diluted the market somewhat and cost Stonehaven backers.

Too many new Shineys.

I don’t recall the first Dwarven kickstarter offering any sidekicks, other than the troll.

I think the reason that the Elf kickstarter had so many sidekicks was because the Elf minis themselves got a lacklustre response and Mike was trying to save the kickstarter by offering something different.

Three dwarven children, a little carved standing stone & a few accessory sprues. They've been in a little cardboard box on top of a stack of old game boxes and dvd's around knee level just next to where I sit in front of my keyboard for the last few years now.

This is very true, but almost all of their Kickstarters have had some sidekick-style guys in each set, and this is the second round of Dwarves (with honestly, a lot of repeated/revised concepts).  The Half-Orcs had Dragonborn, Kenku, Gremlins, Hobgoblins, and familiars, to give a little variety...four years ago.  Sheesh, I hadn't realized it had been that long since they had done a race-themed Kickstarter.  I can't really count the Giants as they had all sorts of big monsters in there from the beginning.

I really wish Mike had gone with old style D&D elves that are smaller than humans and not the gangly bean pole elves that I think were 4e inspired.  Then again I also wish he had done the gnomes with out donkey ears so I am pretty hard to please.

I just have to throw it out there, but I really like Stonehaven's elves, sure they are skinny, and sure some of them are a little flat, but they really do have lots of personality. As of yet I've painted some elves and some half orcs and they were all a joy to paint, not overly complicated and faces with good size for eyes.

      Story
      Hello everyone!
This collection of models is all aquatic themed. There are minis, monsters, and scatter terrain. There are 12 models in the cores set, and 18 stretch goals planned. That is up to 30 models with a buy-all price of $6. Times are tough right now, so I wanted to make something affordable that is still just as awesome.
       MODEL OPTIONS
All models come with a no base, simple base, and decorative base option. A $10 pledge gets you all 3 versions in addition to the successfully tested resin pre-supported version.
         THE CORE SET
                              THE STRETCH GOALS
Every $500 is a new mini, monster, or piece of scatter terrain. All mounts will have a saddle and no saddle version. More stretch goals will be added to match the funding level. So feel free to leave comments about what else you'd like to see!

Me personally I'm more or less done with CMON. No way I'm spending more than $1 here, but some of you might be interested or some might find the comment section entertaining.

OK, Heroes Super Chibi Villains is now live! You can head over to Kickstarter via this link to check it out.

This Kickstarter is very special to us. It’s the first time we will be focusing on the evil side of the Super Chibi universe and it’s the first time that 95% of the character was designed and drawn by Brian “Natakue” Saunders himself.
We are also doing something different this time around to test interest. We have included a digital pledge this time around for the .stl files of the minis. This is for those of you out there who want to print your own minis. We know 3d printing Is an ever-growing market and well, we want to see if Super Chibi can be one of the items people want to print on their personal printers. You can also print these files from any company or retailer who provides printings services. Just to name a few there is Impact Miniatures, Shapeways and much more. Right now this is a Kickstarter only deal but if there is interest we will look into making this a standard pledge in all the upcoming Kickstarters and possibility adding this option to our online store.

So with that said we want to say thank you for supporting us and we will see you at the end of the Kickstarter.
