You put together a nice, dynamic scene that tells a clear story very effectively. I especially like your snow work and the movement that you brought to the scene with the little chunks that are falling along with the big rock. Nicely done!

I missed these replies at first..

Thank you!

It was difficult to show the movement of falling rocks and ice, I'm happy I got the message across.

This is really dynamic! Great avalanche - two thumbs up.

Thank you!

Experimenting with the different types of snow and water effects was a lot of fun.

Some may have seen it in the Facebook Group already, but I am working currently on a spelunking diorama that is a study in OSL. My first serious attempt at OSL it turned out to be a daunting and mindbending affair. I established the base colours and lighting via airbrush and then went back in with brush. Still a few things to fix, but it is getting there.

part one was opened in mid December, part 2 on Christmas morning.
I’ll build into a full diorama in January
Which I will then hide until next year

So I really had to share this because I'm super proud of it and had to show it off

Inspired by others 'project threads' - and with a return to face-to-face gaming on the horizon - I thought I'd start my own thread of minis I'm painting for WOTC's Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden (D&D 5e).

If nothing else this will help to keep me focused on the relevant bits of my unpainted pile, despite all the Bones V calling out to me 🙂

Feedback welcome - with the caveat that I'm an average painter at best, and aiming for table use not display!

Anyone planning on playing this campaign might not want to read further; the minis will inevitably spoil some of the encounters.

To start off, I've lined up the following:

      Grimtalon the Roc (Reaper 77946)
Frost Giant Skeleton (Gale Force 9 71127)
Kings of War: Northern Alliance Clansmen (Mantic Games MGKWL301)
      Frost Shaman Boudi (Hasselfree HFH187)
      Frost Mage Matthias (Hasselfree HFH199)
      Semira Marise (Hasselfree HFX023)
      Polar Bear (WizKids DeepCuts WZK73727-W9)

Hoping to get cracking this weekend. There's also a dragon on the way, and maybe a few others...

It feels like an age since I last posted a terrain build, my last build journal (still unfinished) was actually in October of last year, so it has been a while!

Anyhow, my circumstances have changed and I have found myself with more free time to enjoy my hobby, and so this week I was able to sit down and start a new build, another photo backdrop, this time a cemetery (sorry no build journal this time, I just wanted to enjoy the project).  This one had been on my to do list for ever, the gravestones, coffin and the wall are all Reaper accessories.  I had a lot of fun with this one.

On another positive note, I've now got some time to go back and revisit my 'Post Apocalyptic Suburbia' build journal.  I'm sure  many people don't even remember it, but leaving it unfinished has really been bugging me, so hopefully that one will have a much overdue update by the weekend!
