I thought that at first too, but they still have a lot of framing that goes on, like building the roof and floors.  Also, people still need to run electrical and plumbing.  I also doubt that most homeowners are going to want striated stucco like walls on the inside of their homes, so someone will still likely have to sheath the internal structures in drywall.  But that said, it you can do with three guys in 24 hours what used to take 5 to 7 a week or more, than yeah, that will be a workforce reduction.  In talking with some of my buddies in construction though, they're excited, because as it currently stands they simply don't have enough skilled people to swing hammers as it is, and that is the true reason why houses take so long to build.

Thank you for the insight. I certainly hope you are right, I just worry about so many trades that seem to be liable to be automated, leaving decent people with no way to make a living.

You are certainly right that there are not enough skilled builders about. It is a standing joke at home that if a builder tells you he can start work next week he must be almost useless.

If you  could only have one, what is your favorite paint line?

Being familiar with Reaper's line, and the one I own most of, it's the one I prefer.

Vallejo, though I never tried them, were I to start from scratch and by locally, it would be a valid choice because they have a larger presence everywhere I go and have a vast color selection like Reaper.

Reaper vs. Vallejo is like Coke vs. Pepsi. They're different, yet very much alike, and the end result is just as good.

Question for January 25, 2019

If you  could only have one, what is your favorite paint line?

Hmm...Ceramcoat is my favorite overall due to their ridiculously good price, and quality that is good enough for the vast majority of shades. Reaper is quickly becoming a favorite for when the shade you want needs to be top quality. But if I were only allowed to use one paint line exclusively? Hate to say it, but...Citadel. I can't live without washes in pots. Trying to use the stuff that comes in dropper bottles just makes me too angry, my wife won't let me work on minis when our living room has a soundtrack of 'elf the elfing elfers' muttered over and over for hours on end.

If I could truly only have one, I might go with Reaper's Master Series, if only because I am very familiar with it, and it has a good range of colors.

In reality, I use paints from several different manufacturers on almost every project. Probably around 60% of the paint I use is Reaper, but not more than that.

I have several lines of paint that I use regularly; Vallejo, Reaper, Scale 75, and Golden, as well as Liquitex inks.  Each has their uses and don't completely overlap.  If I had to buy from just one manufacturer though it would probably be Vallejo, basically because they have everything.  Scale 75 has added pigments and historical colors to their lineup, but it isn't as extensive.  Reaper doesn't even offer some of this stuff, so even though I like their paints they lose by lacking auxiliary products.

Reaper. It's what I started on (with a couple of exceptions) when I really got into painting and I like how they work for me. I am becoming fond of the Bones line, especially the metallics.
