Question for January 30, 2019

Do your pets travel with you?

Do spouses count?

Don't have any actual pets.  Used to have fish, tank cracked, fish died a few days after transition to new tank due to stress.  Can't have dog in current place, and cat... I'm allergic.

I don't have pets. I have companions.

Don't do much traveling these days, but they don't usually. My canine friends have always been very good travelers, they love car rides. If I were to go on a day-trip, I would take them. But I don't take them unless I have someone with me to watch them if I have to leave the immediate car area; they never stay in the car alone.

The only pets we have now are fish. They don't travel well, especially in winter. When I did have lots of pets they staid at home but I didn't travel much either. The dogs went everywhere I did on the farm. Miss that companionship. They loved being outside with me instead of whining how it's hot or cold and boring.

Brutus is comfy in the car, but only comes along if HE needs to go someplace. ( Walk in the woods, visit the vet, etc)

He will stay home with the Vixens when we leave for a short time, if we go on vacation he goes to a Doggy Hotel where he is well treated and has fun.

Boxers have short snouts, that means there is a danger of them dying when on an airplane, ratio is 25% deaths for bulldog/boxer/mastiff breeds when on a flight.

So he doesn't come with us.

Besides that, he is better of at home or in a doggy hotel than staying in a hotel room while we visit the beach or something.

Nope- we get a cat sitter when we go away for any length of time, though when we last went away it was only for 3 nights so our lovely neighbour just came in twice a day to do the cat stuff for us- but any longer than that and we just have someone come and stay at the house. Unfortunately (for us, not her) our normal housesitter had a baby recently so probably won’t be able to housesit for us anymore so we’ll be needing to find someone else! We normally just ask a friend as opposed to getting a company. Luckily we live very close to the main town around here- close enough that most people work in the town and staying at ours cuts down their commute time & cost so we shouldn’t struggle too much to find someone!

We travelled with the cat once. We tried to leash train him, though he didn't really take to it. He hates being outdoors, even though he thinks he's a fearsome wild kitteh. Anyway, he didn't do his business the entire trip, until we got to our destination, when he made a bee line for the cat box like he'd been there before (he hadn't).

We decided it was kinder to have my mom catsit him for us, even though he sulks uncontrollably if my husband is gone for more than 12 hours. He's a silly boy.

We never took the parrot with us, always leaving him with friends or family.  Now that Puk died, this will be the first year in the last 26 that I won't have to find someone to take care of him. (Little things like this keep coming up and making me miss him.)

The goldfish don't seem to like to travel either, so we just get time release feed for them.

Vacations and the like... no. Just a day trip to friends or family... yes, for the dogs at least. No one would have any fun if we forced the cats into a car. Probably wouldn't come out of that situation with 100% of my blood still inside me.
