This projects seeks to fund the production of a small selection of new science fiction models for Krakon Game's Stargrind range. The unifying theme for this chapter is Bounty Hunters... or Freelance Peace-Keeping Agents to some.

The new models presented at launch are Rictus, Venom, Odul, ALI-G and Thrall. These 5 new models have been sculpted by Ross Whitehorn, some completely from scratch, others (Thrall, ALI-G) as variants of existing models in the range.

Using the pledge listing on the right, you can select either one of these new models, all of them, or choose to build your combination of models by selecting add-ons. In any case, you can enter more in your pledge total to add any other models as add-ons to any pledge level.

For example, if you would like to receive ALI-G and K-Man, you can select the ALI-G pledge level and enter a total of £24. Or you could simply pick Add-ons and enter £24.

Pledge selections can be changed and increased at any time during the campaign, just click edit on your pledge and increase the total accordingly. You may need to do this when stretch goals are unlocked.

Stargrind is an ever-growing range of sci-fi models. Previously funded models or general releases are available to add to your pledge. To do so, add the total cost of all add-ons and increase your pledge amount accordingly.

Should the project go beyond the funding target, a list of stretch goals will be opened up. These are extra items that will be added to the campaign, including additional parts for existing characters or entirely new characters. Rictus needs a cloak and shield, yes?

For me personally. The sculpt quality.... just isn’t quite there yet.

I’d like to see what the sculptor could with just a little bit of improvement of his skills.

I agree, some are better than others, but it's just a bit hit and miss.

I'm also slightly confused (and not meaning to belittle anyone's finances here) by the need to kickstart for £150? Seems... like maybe they're using kickstarter to bring more attention to the product? That or they havent factored in all the costs? I'm not sure, just seems a little weird.

Seems like a lot of companies are doing that *cough Monoliths last one *cough

Most probably same thing here, Its Ross's 6th or 7th campaign i lost track as i didnt back everyone and the ones i have backed all run pretty smooth with good communication etc.

Kickstarter is more than anything, a very powerful and inexpensive marketing tool. Cudos to all the small manufactureres that have discovered this and use it. Monoliths last one was even explicit about this. Nothing fishy, suspcet or  "cough cough" about it at all.

Having a low funding goal is a good way of making sure it makes it.

The "kickstarter is only for creators who need funding to make their dream come true" idea is stubborn, but not actually true.

They'd also greatly benefit from better photography and backgrounds. And font, I can't even read the names on some of them. Like the guy who looks like Kosh from Babylon 5. I'd like a better look at the mini, and if I did want to buy it I'd probably need to know his name to order it.

Working on it! I do understand what you are saying and people comment on the improvements in my work over time. I always strive to do better.

The funding total is to cover casting costs, as stated in my kickstarters. Anything above that pays me for my sculpting time. Some projects are more successful than others, but I set out to cover paying someone else to cast the models, then the "dream" is made. I've already invested my time into the models, so if I factored in a salary and the project failed, I am left with 0 rather than some models put into production that can sit in my webstore and slowly accrue worth.

Thank you Timmy, I appreciate your support and positive words.

Exactly this. Kickstarter has seriously changed the way many people shop. Companies that have been around decades are slowly succumbing to running their own as websales dry up.  Love or hate it, it enables us to bring our products to an audience.

Thank you for the feedback. I will take this on board.

I like engaging with customers and supporters. The way you have identified, described and made comment on a model is actually positive to me, because we can engage on the subject. I try to talk to backers and take on their feedback. Many of the models I make are in response to suggestions too.

Since I can't seem to add text above the first quote...

Hello, I am he! Thank you for all the feedback and criticism. I do really appreciate seeing comments like this and I do take it all on board. Thank you to those who have backed me. I will strive to improve to meet all your standards ;)

There's a trick to adding text above the first quote in a post....

You put it in before inserting the quotes.

Anyways...

Welcome to the forum!

We'd have a welcome basket for you with all kinds of nice stuff, but Buglips got to it first...

(Never feed him old Reaper Pro paints)

Stay out of the Randomnes thread in Off-topic or your sanity will be forfeit.

Stay out of the Aquisition thread, also in Off-topic, or your wallet is forfeit...

Do post in the Sculpting, WIP and Show-off sections, and remember that we like lots of pictures.

(No commerical linking, no nudity. Other than that we mostly go by Cardamon town rules )

I got my minis today. I only went in for a couple, the Babylon 5 refugee and the escapee from the Labyrinth movie. Obviously they need a bit of assembly. The reaper guy is there for scale:

They are really nice figures, good size, scale and detail. I think it would have been more successful with some better pics on the project page.
