Lidless Eye Hobbies: Frostgrave Ghost Archipelago Crew

Recommended Posts

Among my first minis finished in 2019 are the Crew from/for Frostgrave: Ghost Archipelago.  I did two themed builds, plus a generic sailor who was left over.

The Warriors of the Steppes.  They were done with a Cossack theme, and they all use official FG Crew bodies/arms, with heads from Warhammer kits (Chaos Marauder Horsemen, Empire Archers, maybe another)

The Warriors of the Desert.  They were built entirely from the FG Crew sprue.

That is a SPLENDID looking Gang of Scoundrels & Hooligans...groups, gang, crews & such have an added appeal for me. Your work with the brush & eye for color are OUTSTANDINGVERY NICELY DONE!

Thank you!

The eye for color means a lot to me.  I am red-green colorblind, which is getting slowly worse with age.  Most of the time, I have to go with what the bottles are labelled.  If those earthy tones are next to each other, it's game over.

Great gang of disreputable figures! Hard to believe you are red-green colorblind; the blending and colors look so good.

Hello everyone, here are pictures of the biggest small dragon I ever painted. 03651 Storm Dragon Hatchling sculpted by Kevin Williams.
This is the metal version of the model, it is mounted on a 74033, 40mm round base. The final highlight on the upper part of the wings is 09294 Alien Goo and 09408 Candlelight Yellow.

This is a 3D printed miniature from Rocketpig Miniatures which I printed on the Elegoo Mars.
Part of my Shifting Sands Project.

      What did you say?
You don't know the answer to my riddle?
      How unfortunate...!

Hello again.  Here's another older paintjob of mine.  This is the wyvern from the Bones 4 Core set.

My players encountered a flock of Wyverns while traversing a desert valley.  They were mounted on Giant Lizards and were chased by the wyverns.  What ensued was an Indiana Jones-esque chase complete with daring leaps from mount to mount.  All-in-all a good time.

As such, I decided to paint this guy up to fit into an arid desert landscape.  Had a lot of fun blending the sculpted base into the rest of the base.  Also was really proud of the coloration I settled on for the Wyvern.

I painted each scale individually, which was time consuming but worth it.  I also tried some different glazing and layering techniques to add veining into the wings.  Needless to say, I'm pretty proud of this one.  Wish I had snagged up Blacksting during the Kickstarter as well though.  Will have to get my hands on that one eventually.

So! I'm back. I haven't finished any of my other WIPs lately but I figure one more won't hurt.

I'm planning on doing a film noir style desert expedition whereupon our investigators find something not of this world.

I'm really excited for this one(not that I'm not excited for all my projects) but I have some hurdles to cross.

I want a wall between the white and grey bones, preferably crumbly looking. Not sure where to start with that.  Figure out the best way to magnetize things. And the really big one: figure out how to actually paint in the style I'm trying to do.
This will involve a lot of work and time. As well as some (maybe a lot of) practice minis.

I'm currently in the mock up stage. I've got the minis I want and I'm trying to stage them how I think will look good as well as imagine the wall where I want it.
      First stages of mock up.
