This is a continuation of a thread started in "More X-Wing Fun", covering stories for a start until some new pilots are trained.  I gave out "The Force Awakens" to a few guys for Christmas and Birthdays in the hopes of expanding the player base.  The group at the local game store seems to have vanished.  So continuing...

This is the Rebellion News Network (R.N.N.)
Watchman reporting from somewhere in the Distal Reaches.

We encountered a rather strange cosmic anomaly that has thrown us off course; no one seems to know our present whereabouts.  The emergency transmitter has been broadcasting our location since we lost our course lock-on. It has been only forty-five minutes but we have been informed of a locating beacon that has started transmitting a positional fix to home in on.  Evidently this is not a standard type beacon, not matching anything on the Galactic Navigational Charts…

We are, finally, approaching an uncharted planetary body…

We have been instructed to close all view ports before we land.  I am placing a Remote Optical Pad on the port that should pass all but the closest detailed external inspection. I plan to activate a Randomized Signal Receiver just before touchdown, and possibly obtain some external video…

So, a Military base of some sort: a Gozanti Cruiser taking off (?), and Y-wing bombers.  DSCI0001.thumb.JPG.22c2336d9a50cf96528a6990dd4c4b7a.JPGLooks like about two squadrons of Kihraxz fighters landing.DSCI0002.thumb.JPG.d7c9fee9e98e82375c8c2c1b5fcc2f34.JPGDSCI0003.thumb.JPG.52b47db65769aa05d0e07df4cc0552bc.JPGDSCI0004.thumb.JPG.537131b536a8cb8919100a1f856f404f.JPG DSCI0006.thumb.JPG.3d3d87c1c130d46c3d938691f8b90842.JPG Here are two rows of Z-95s, which I am unable to determine how many are present.DSCI0005.thumb.JPG.76f16a89852ee90cdf2ce77cfb3e9b7d.JPG Looks like a standard type of base construction seen elsewhere.  Hmmm, there is no visible activity of any kind currently, which I can pick out, inside the installation. DSCI0007.thumb.JPG.f53e2158853ca1e79610952161285790.JPGDSCI0008.thumb.JPG.3bc89eccfa8d76932c8daf543b04e178.JPGDSCI0009.thumb.JPG.f4fc9cb4829e5616279bee9d1d49a258.JPG

We have an interesting development, looks like I am picking up stray video signals close by from someone doing a visual scan of us.  They seem to be interested in our weapons mounts.             Try as I might, it has been extremely difficult in receiving any audio transmissions. I was adjusting and fine tuning the Randomized Signal Receiver to see if I could expand it to a usable audio signal, but it is quite probable the signal is processed to be received by only those desired. The only thing intelligible was: Outer Rim News Agency, Outer Reaches Branch, the rest of which blanked out.  Frequency jumper would explain that effect.

We have been confined to the ship for two days now.  The plan given is, the ship will be piloted by a base crew to an unspecified location, and then control will be returned to the ship’s crew.  The base crew will stay at the port till the ship is two days out, then they will be picked up and returned to their base…

The engines are powering up for a liftoff.  The Optical Pad is displaying Protectorate Star fighters still patrolling, probably till we are well out of the area.DSCI0026.thumb.JPG.f00c9d3e115d4f9db6dbdffd9dd8c15e.JPGDSCI0027.thumb.JPG.8c1dd6908f2ec4e62138b3f6f5176b42.JPGDSCI0028.thumb.JPG.8d44407558e6f196c4191b0a03129e67.JPGDSCI0029.thumb.JPG.be604a5ce80793a1a5bfe2c3ce26c2bf.JPG  Most of the commercial activity is down to two YT1300 cargo ships.DSCI0030.thumb.JPG.76003f220671f77201015beb7a686ab2.JPG The base is devoid of all activity again, for the moment,DSCI0031.thumb.JPG.4eebfddd6f45139ee4986c85706c3883.JPG with a little distortion from powering up.             We are approaching an Empire Customs Port of Entry (ECPoE).  Once we have been cleared and any business transactions completed, we will continue on.  There will be a few Port Calls along our journey before we reach my disembarkation point.

Well while we are landing let us see what Military presence is housed here. It appears there is about a Wing’s worth of fighting craft.DSCI0001.thumb.JPG.2f200b1c3157f32a02c88a0b39eefa70.JPG

This will be our third stop, the other two being quick outpost deliveries. We are currently deep in the Outer Rim of the Rimma Trade Route.  Sorry no specific locations, even though it is a major Port of Call.
I see a great deal of activity here. Much commerce in progress, as always happens without the oppressive, tax and tariff, hand of the Empire.

Just a side note.  I am building an Excel Spread Sheet of the X-Wing factions covering 1.0 ships I have access to their Data.  An Empire, Rebel, and Scum & Villainy sheets. Details covered will be Nomenclature, Combat Stats, Pilot, Skill Level, Cost, and number of upgrades allowed.  I know nothing of 2.0, so I do not know if some ambitious enough could expand on this work. So if anyone would be interested in a copy just let me know.

While in between battles, I am replacing a roof, which should be finished today. I also am trying to get organized and downsize at the same time.  I cobbed together this shelf unit out of leftover wood from other projects.  It is not pretty but gets the job done.  I will paint it later, for now it has slide out trays and the left-side is planned for expansion, for the various mats in my collection.  This was primarily built for X-wing ships still in their original boxes, but there was enough room leftover to include the Armada boxes.  The add-on rack  will hold the X-wing, Sails of Glory, and Wings of Glory Mats; depending on the final layout I come up with, possibly the Star Fleet Battles Mats also. To give you an idea of size, the four lower shelves are 28" x 25" and the two top shelves are 23" x 33".  The whole unit stands about 7' tall.    They were piled upon a two shelf rack about 2' high, not very accessible.  As for down-sizing, I will be divesting the Star Trek-Attack Wing Game... the smallest of the collections by-the way.  No one seems to have any interest in that game, so I have it posted on Craig's List and now on Facebook.   My need to downsize, and be organized, is due to an ulterior motive of needing more space for more 3D terrain for C.A.V, mentioned elsewhere in a C.A.V. battle report.   I wanted to replace some of the Battle Tech boards that were too confining for many C.A.V.s  by following the contour lines in some locations instead of the hex-sides.  On  to the next project.XwingShelf1.thumb.JPG.95dcb7e5195737e50196d22496046332.JPGXwingShelf2.thumb.JPG.53f43f3f18ef699b69fc78ff00b61335.JPGXwingShelf3.thumb.JPG.a5ae6db053acdcff898e7cd55d860690.JPG

Sad to say I am getting out of Xwing. Not gonna spend the money to buy the upgrades.

We are not upgrading either, we have 1 & 2 rules sets and will keep going with them.  Some ideas from 3 we may incorporate. The potential for limitless battles still exists, convoy raids, outpost defense with older/obsolete equipment, and so on.  We do not try to have the bestest, fastest, mostest.  Some battles do not have any top names present. I say do not give up, if you are having fun with what you have, carry on.  Just like CAV, we have 1 & 2 and that is it for us.

Here is the shelf unit the X-wing was on.  For a general idea of size here are two CAV boards: 18" x 24",  The lower shelf can hold three boards and the upper shelf, as many as practical.  I think there are possibly four that need replacing but I have no idea when, or if, that will happen as long as this corona scam is going on, I am not sure the printer will still be in business by the time this is over, we have lost a lot already.DSCI0174.thumb.JPG.aa316ac6d5fa9d575cd9ce1ac332594c.JPG

      Story
After the estate of one Fomo Barrowblight (who many moons ago, and with heavily laden bags, had said he was just off for a morning walk, never to return) was sold at auction, there came to light a strange scroll that appeared to be a map of the final resting place of a lost tribe of halflings.  These cousins lived down in the scorching Southlands, amidst endless dunes that had buried whole cities and civilisations.
The newly elected (and so still very enthusiastic) Halfling Town Council had organised an expedition to make contact with their fellow halflings, with the aim of swapping some stories and recipes, and who knows, perhaps even coming back with some interesting new cakes.
And, after many great perils and travails, the expedition found itself in a mysterious location known as 'The Valley of the Things'.  Here, recipes in strange hieroglyphs were marked on tomb walls,  guarded jealously by High Priests and long mummified pastry chefs.
The expedition takes time to assuage the fears of the High Priests that they are here to steal the sacred recipes and make formal diplomatic relations.  But Fomo Barrowblight and another mysterious figure seem intent on stealing the recipe to the sacred pie and have already gleaned some of the ingredients...

I backed their original Mythic Battles: Pantheon. Good miniatures.

IIRC, Mythic Battles: Pantheon core sets in the KS, and possibly some expansions in the PM. Expansion reprints were difficult because printer required a minimum number, and Monolith wasn't sure how many sets backers would want. Also, let me know how their fulfilment has been going. (Not to be confused with their former partner, Mythic games.)
