About

Hello there. We would like to introduce you to our miniature painting holders. From the day I started painting miniatures, I confronted with various things that I considered it needed improvement, as  lighting on the miniature, attaching the miniature to the holder, good grip of the holder, airbrushing multiple miniatures at once, and the most important to feel effortless while painting, which I all applied by creating our painting system, and here it is.

The Ice Cream:

This holder is amazing due to its features:

light on the miniature for a better vision, automatic back and forward rotation and magnetic head (N 52 magnets). Its size is:14 cm height by 5 cm diameter.

                                              These are 3D printed prototypes

The Clamp:

The clamp head  is designed for a secure hold of your miniature, being able to hold various base sizes from 20 mm up to 60 mm! The clamp has two levels as you can see in the picture. The first level holds between 20 and 40 mm bases and the second level holds from 40 up to 60 mm.As well,it uses  N 52 magnet for fast attaching to any of our holders. The magnetic head makes your miniature attaching easier than ever in just one click sound.. It saves you time and effort with no need of using mounting putty or tacky sticks or any other sticking stuff..

Who said that the small can't hold the big?

The Torch:

We call this one the torch because put together with the clamp it looks like one. We should not underestimate it, because of its features: with this holder you will experience the truly smooth rotation due to its ball bearings(no friction). You don't need two fingers to rotate it, it will easily move by just a thumb touch. Its size is:10.5 cm Height by 3 cm diameter.

Wow, another kickstarter for miniature holders? I do like the looks of this one more than others on the market at the moment, but I'm not convinced any of them are "better enough" for the prices they wanted compared to what I use now. The clamp for different size bases does look particularly good though- if anyone does go in on it when it delivers I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on using it.

While not on the snake-oil level of RGG, it's still a product creating a problem for it's own solution.

I'm of the same thought. Too gimmicky to be worthwhile. Though I can appreciate the rubber band clamp for its simplicity, the rest of the handle that needs its own stand is bad design.

Though I can appreciate more light while painting, having the USB lamp itself in the way (since having my miniature backlit while I paint is not helping) is just going to make it worse.

Anyone else suddenly want to eat a carrot while looking at the prototype?

I would be very interested in the top half piece, that is clever. And by having the magnet in the base, you could put it on any kind of handle that would hold a steel washer.

I saw erm... an adult toy. Not really the multipurpose that I want for my mini painting

I love the fact that the most useful "innovation" mentioned so far is the rubber band...  ::P:

I think we've officially reached the point where so many people have noticed that geeky kickstarters do well that people are creating way more projects than the demand can really support.  See also dice kickstarters.

Yup, I see this one will be on thingiverse in about a month or less.

Again, it doesn't beat my Tamiya paint can with cap & double stick foam tape.

I'm hoping when it shows up there, they have some for hex bases!

Yeah, KS definitively attracts the good old fashioned get-rich-quick scammers. Although this one actually seems more like an attempt at humor than a scam ::P: For the most part, a pill bottle with poster tac is more than enough - especially ones with the spinning adult-proof caps, makes it easy to spin the model around without changing my grip. That being said, I did back the Rathcore V3 mini holders when they came out - they function well for my nerve damage hand, the bars are movable and sturdy enough to use as a rest/stabilizer when painting tiny things as my hands shake - they are hand made and assembled, and well worth the money. The first copy-cat that came around after the V3 was a hit on kickstarter, the Hobby Holder, is actually a well thought out product that allows you to use regular bottle caps, but to me seems about double the cost it should be. The last few that have popped up on KS have been nothing less than entertaining to read, I keep imagining a video of a guy trying to sell them out of a covered wagon as he treks across the mid US.

I think it’s due to 3D printing becoming more commonplace. So a heap of people are coming out with stuff where they think something 3D printed solves the problem. Previously they would have had to get a plastic mould made, which is a much more expensive process.

Basically, a program to plan your dungeon. Pretty useful for 3D printing, and comes with it's own set of Egyptian tiles. You'll be able to upload other tiles as well, if you have the STL files. Super Early Bird (50% off, 25$) still available for now ;)
They have some videos on the page that show how it works.

      Story
      Who Are Troublemaker Games?
We  are an established wargames development company who design &  supply plastic, metal and resin miniatures for wargames retail  companies, whose sculptors also have experience doing freelance work for  other companies such as Mantic Games (for whom we sculpted, for  example, their range of 28mm scale plastic terrain kits, as well as various other plastic & resin kits).
We  have previously run & managed eight other Crowdfunding  Campaigns,  raising a total of £84,048 to deliver plastic and metal  models for the  6mm scale wargame range, Defeat In Detail (1 2 3 4 5), our range of Plastic Wargames Terrain kits (1 2), and our 28mm scale Nuns with Laserguns! (1).
We  have delivered all the plastic, resin, and metal kits from all seven of our own crowdfunding campaigns to our customers, and all models  (other than some Campaign Exclusive Limited Edition pieces) are now  available for retail  purchase through either Vanguard Miniatures, as  the "Defeat In Detail" and the "Troublemaker Games Plastic Terrain Kits" ranges, or the "Nuns with Laserguns!" range via our own webstore. Vanguard's own Crowdfunder (which we oversaw as Campaign Manager) has itself also been fully delivered.
Some of our Nuns with Guns (painted) from our previous Kickstarter campaign. What We Need & What You Get
We have several designs of Post-Technopocalypse Model kits already sculpted, but without a crowdfunding campaign it  would be too expensive for us to afford to put them into production, so  your interest and support at this stage means we can bring these designs to retail... and to your gaming tables!
As we cross stretch goals we'll be unlocking more model kits, and hopefully adding free bonuses to existing pledges too (we've managed to include free bonus models on  every one of our Crowdfunders to date, and we'd love to continue that tradition!).
So, this campaign contains rewards for pledging, consisting of:
28mm Metal Model Kits STL 3d Files Download Packages All miniatures will be supplied unpainted. Scroll onwards to find out more...
      How Do Pledges Work?
Each Scenery or Model kit in this Kickstarter campaign has a price in British Pounds (£) associated with it.
To pledge, total up how many of each kit you'd like to pledge for, work out how many Pounds that would cost, and pledge for that total.
For example, if you would like to pledge for:
       1x Tribal Guardswomen Infantry Squad (£20)  1x Mad Marx (£4) 2x Count Binface (£8)  1x Post-Technopocalypse Town STL Set (£10)  Total: £42
Then you should select the "Miniatures!" reward, and should pledge £42; You will be prompted for postage and packaging in addition to your basic pledge cost. Once the campaign ends, you will be sent a questionnaire, which will ask you to confirm your chosen combination of model sets.
If you only want STL digital file sets, select the "STL-only pledge" and pledge the appropriate amount for your chosen combination of STL sets.
Some of the Stretch Goals that we hope to unlock during this campaign will also have Costs associated with them, whilst others will be free upgrades to existing sets.

www.blacksunminiatures.co.uk Many factors that have lead us to our love of model sculpture, one of the most influential of these has been the great Jim Henson. We spent much of our youth immersed in the worlds Jim created and are so excited to have been given the opportunity to work with The Jim Henson Company and to create miniature models of our favourite characters.
Jim was a master visionary and the worlds he created feature rich storylines and complex characters. Our goal is to delight existing fans and introduce these amazing creations to a new generation.
