Now see, those are some sovereign citizens who seem to just be having fun with it. Unless, of course, there is some kind of subtle genius in the cookie dough standard I'm not seeing. The kind I'm talking about aren't so organized and who's entire claim to their sovereignty lies with some sort of mumbled "don't like the gub'mint" excuse. I could probably hang with the Molosians.

You will need to make application for passport controlled entry.  I've been by the place and they have the "borders" and ports of entry clearly marked.

Gem

It's even on Google Earth

That has nothing to do with the Sovereign movement.

He actually acknowledges US government, but has secceeded from the USA.(Something that neither the USA not any other nation has acnowledged, yet)

As for these Sovereign citizens, if they don't have paperwork and have renounced their citizenship, wouldn't it be easier to let ICE escort them off the country?  I know a number of hard working immigrants who would be happy to have them diverted to easier targets.  I don't really see a down side of this plan...

It would certainly be easier. I won't comment on the propriety of such an action here.

But there are treaties that specify how stateless persons are to be handled, and they don't let the government truck you to the nearest ocean and throw you in. And generally countries that share a land border aren't so interested in being dumping grounds for such people either.

Rabbit food for dinner.

Spent part of today playing Knight in Shining ArmorTM !!

A friend of a friend was in NYC for a podcasting event the past weekend, and left a bag of stuff behind at the afterparty. The bar was unwilling to ship it to her, but would hold it for her. So, we got connected by our mutual friend, and off I went to rescue the lady's corset and other assorted items. It took the hostess forever to actually find where they'd stashed it though. Turns out it was in the first place she'd looked, but she thought the corset was an umbrella, and didn't see the bag behind it.

Got my eyes checked. Thankfully I was the doc's most boring appointment of the day. My prescription hasn't changed. So that's good.

I've made a bunch of pregens for ReaperCon Pizza MegaDungeon Wednesday night delve. Might also run it other nights.... Hmm... Maybe I should make more than 8...

"Sure! And just to let you know, The Young Dubliners are playing in NYC on 9/10."

 It's getting smarter...

Grump was congratulating himself on keeping the number of players in his paranormal detectives game down to six.

Jamie and Andrew both want to play, both Jon and Julie have been talking it up.

Like Ten Little Indians in reverse: And then there were eight.

Even with all the Beekeepers stuff that might or might not happen.

She will have good moments as well, it will never only be bad.

And you might be surprised how well humans adapt to stuff.

Who knows? She might become someone who solves some of those looming bad stuff.

And remember, all those things we're afraid of might as well not happen, or less bad than we thought.

We only read the bad news, there is a lot of good as well.

We all want to protect our loved ones, but at some point they will have to deal with stuff themselves.

Oh, and yes one day she will just hate you!

Because you made her clean up her room or confiscated her cellphone for bad behaviour or something like that.

She will never ever speak to you again!

...until she needs something

The movie Road To Perdition filmed many of the driving sequences around Plattville, as the area at that time had not changed much since the 1920s. So this pic gives a nice idea of the setting of my previous post.

Yikes! this pic was bigger than I thought... anyway this was shot about a mile outside Plattville. The road the car is on intersects with Ashley Rd. The area is now covered in subdivision sprawl.

Diner.jpg.23393c8ebcec4c8474817f7b5b365025.jpg

This was built on the intersection of Ashley Rd and Rt47 between Plattville and Morris IL. After filming the crew asked the property owner if he wanted them to tear the diner down, as it was actually built well enough that it could have been used as one. Unfortunately the property owner told them he didn't want it and it was destroyed. Heaven forbid that we have something other than subdivisions or strip malls....grrr.

When they filmed The Lord of the Rings, the contract they had with the farmer where they built The Shire said they had to return the farm to the original state once they'd finished filming. Fortunately for him, he got a second opportunity to cash in on tourism when they went back for The Hobbit.

My personal view of taxation is I am paying for services of the country I live in.  Very much like the support contracts you buy on programs or expensive electronics.  you got to pay for it or you risk something going dreadfully wrong.  Its my view and I don't expect others to follow it.  This explanation does let me come to terms with it and see whether I am getting value for my money as opposed to seeing it as theft where there is not value given.

How can you go wrong with a title like Bubba the Redneck Werewolf?

By the looks of it, Bubba is the hero of the film.

The Auld Grump

How do you tell if the redneck is a werewolf or not? They're both pretty hairy and have snaggly teeth.

Well, went to look at my schedule for a con next month that I had games supposedly scheduled to run. They didn't have them listed, so I followed up and they have lost the events! Too late to reschedule them so I will just go and play games myself! This crew has had stuff totally screwed up the last two years and it doesn't look like they are improving. They haven't even gotten a request through to have a credit card reader there to let people play, I know because my wife runs that for the University!
