djizomdjinn
UPS: Your package was delivered. Oh hey, that thing I ordered last week arrived. Wait a sec. What's that big box? ...oh. The mini backlog just got bigger. 8

TheAuldGrump
In Andrew's game, when I first encountered by arch-nemesis and wanted to talk to him, rather than engage in immediate combat, I made a Diplomacy attempt - and got a natural twenty. Last night, I made a similar attempt, to see if we could approach this as sane and rational people.... And got another natural twenty. We have now gone from arch enemies to friendly rivals - and our attempt to gain the treasures from the dragon's maze? We are cooperating, and will split the treasure between the two groups. (Pretty sure that our party was supposed to end up with all of it, but I like this better.) It was pretty much settled by a Detect Evil... and they aren't. (I think he may be Chaotic Neutral, while our side is leaning toward Neutral Good.) The Auld Grump 9

Unless this Canadian company has picked up another US contractor they haven't told me about*, I'm sure the answer is no, too. *no, I'm not joking. A few years ago, one of the old partners hired a guy from Texas and didn't tell anyone until the guy's first invoice arrived. Even then he didn't tell anyone that the guy thought he was being hired as the president of US Sales. The primary partner was under the impression the guy had been retained to help with trade shows. The whole thing didn't come out until one of my distributors sales guys asked me why they had hired this guy as president of US Sales instead of him. I had no idea what he was talking about, so he sent me the link to the guy's LinkedIn profile. I sent the link to the people in the office I deal with, and the broccoli started to hit the fan, but the old partner weaseled his way out of it. The company has been getting better since that old partner was forced out last year, but there are still a bunch of remnants of his years there.

This fits right into my taste. I was watching Black Sails for a while, then stopped for some reason. I bought the first couple of Ice and Fire books when I had a long layover in Seoul. At that time I don't remember if the third book was out yet and it was supposed to be a trilogy. Enjoyed them despite the darkness and losing one of my favourite characters. Got the third book and it was good but nothing really moved with the storyline. Then began the years of waiting for the next book. You just described my feeling towards the Wheel of Time series, too. When it got to the point that I needed to reread all of the previous books just to remind myself what was going on before I could read the newest one, I gave up. 5 hours ago, Crowley said: Coffee... Flit
I have been fighting brain weasels and stress this week. I think part of it is because I was off my SSRI while I was trying to get it and my blood pressure meds. My blood pressure was down today but is still high and I had to deal with my water getting turned off because I forgot to pay the bill because of the previous broccoli I was dealing with. Got the water all straightened out and back on. And, best of all I just checked the Bones tracker and my email. My Bones should arrive Friday if all goes as planned, I am supposing that means that that they haven't run out of Frost Giant Huntresses yet.

Unruly
Wow. Never expected my childish complaint about wanting Game of Thrones right now would spark that much conversation about not wanting GoT. And I'm wondering if Reaper is at the "we're out of List of Doom stuff, so we're skipping orders" stage or if there were just a lot of international backers in waves 3 and 4 who have already been packed and shipped. The orders shipped for today was still in the 900's, but whereas yesterday went from wave 2 to wave 3, today went from 3 to 5. All I know for certain is that I do have List of Doom stuff in my order, I think just the tree, and I'm Wave 10. So I'll likely be waiting until the container arrives and is unpacked. Currently being hamstrung at work by new rules. Apparently we afternoon and night shift people are doing our jobs too well. According to our bosses we're booting too many cars and writing too many tickets. But we only boot cars that don't pay their tickets, and we write tickets on cars that don't pay their meters or otherwise park illegally. It's not like we're handing them out at random. 5 1

Yup, got the new fridge, so we re-arranged several things anyways.. Living room is still chaos, but... It's a nice touch. Soon though, painting, and/or assembly, and... hobbying stuff! (...and laundry, but that's nowhere near as interesting) I wish we were getting a new fridge. Not for the fridge itself but because I have very happy memories of what I did with the box Mum's fridge came in. Sometimes an empty box is the BEST present! 1 hour ago, Unruly said: Wow. We LOVE Game of Thrones! But, oh my gawd! The Red Wedding should live in INFAMY as the cruelest episode of any series. I stopped watching the DVDs for MONTHS after that. So, SO good, and so, SO heartbreaking! Except when I showed it to Mum! Guess who her favorite character was? So I suspect that we've been set aside until the container arrives. Oh, and I've also never seen any GoT, never read any of the books, and have no real inclination to do either.
