There are two small characters, gnome and halfling, and I have the giant frogs Grump painted up.

Always fun. In a previous Weds adventure half party (other half was resting in town) went to see the local swamp weirdo & he had giant frogs (2) as pets/guards. One character did get eaten in the battle.

Hmmm I'll be damned, water wierds were large size back in 2e. All these years I've always thought they were medium creatures. I guess I blame minis for that assumption.

One of the best encounters in that adventure.

I remember how much fun you had panicking when they ate your witch! ::D:

Now, you get to share. ::P:

There are more deadly encounters in the Moathouse, but there is just something about getting eaten that makes people wig out! Especially kids! I always have fun with it. ::P:

The Auld Grump -and here I thought you were asleep.

*EDIT* The Dreadmere froggies?

My co-worker who has never been there, thinks it's still this way. I told em when I was there I didn't see anything that he kept mentioning.

This was over 20 years ago.  it was much different back then.  I have been back once since and now its like any other place that has gambling.  They don't need to bring people in with fancy offers, they just come.

I am not a gambler (given my luck with dice, craps is right out and most other games of chance bore me) so the place really had no call to me.  The best deal I ever got though was for $139 you got 3 nights lodging, airfare, a show and breakfast and dinner buffets.  They also gave you a roll of chips to play with (you couldn't cash them in, you had to spend them)  the only restriction was you had to arrive on tuesday and leave Friday.  Me and my wife went a couple of times and had a blast.  But I haven't seen deals like that in decades at this point.  even the airfare is not particularly discounted anymore.  I put it down to too many people with too much money.  The casinos are not going to spend any more than they need to bring people in and those hotels are full year round!

It was! As soon as I saw those froggies, the Moathouse was what I thought of. Forty years later, it still brings a smile to my face, every time. ::D:

Do you think trash is sad when we throw it away? When I was a kid I kind of imagined I could hear the wrappers and baggies and stuff from my lunch cry out in terror when I threw it away at school every day.

They were in 1e as well - but long and snakey - ten feet long and skinny.

Yup, your right. I wasn't much of a DM in 1e but when 2e came around I was behind the screen quite a bit. I guess it makes sense being a snake-like creature. Need a couple for next Weds game (or will be, not sure if the characters will make it to the room with em in it). Debating on just using Deep Cuts water elementals on large bases or just go with Reaper's water elemental as it's large size.

I'm the same, although for different reasons....

Every time dad went on tour, my biggest worry was an officer in dress uniform showing up at the door after sundown...

Besides, garbage taking over?  We're Canadians, we'd just hire the bears from Jasper and Banff national parks to deal with the "threat".  Yeah, trash army wouldn't stand a chance...

I think right now, what kills my enthusiasm of going is going to book a place to stay (again, I don't mind if I'm not at the Con hotel for LVO) & I see a great price for the room, then you get into the hotel policies & it' 30 bucks or so per night for resort fee (ie "free" wifi) & then allot of them want a deposit & that is usually quite a bit considering. So that cheap hotel price is more then I want to pay per night while I'm there.

When I stayed earlier this year, I stayed at a hotel about a 15 min walk from Bally's & they charged a 10 dollar resort fee & I don't recall a deposit when you got there but they did take one when I reserved, but it was taken off the entire hotel stay amount, so I didn't have a problem with that.

Also, no way do I want a layover for a flight from Boise to LV. It's less then 2 hrs & currently there is a early morning flight & a mid-afternoon flight (5pm  Pac time) as far as flights down & really only 1 flight back that I want. I get back around 3 pm mtn time. Nothing back breaking just a bit frustrating as far as times.

Speaking of Banff, did anyone see that story in regards to the wolf attack & some good samaritan saved a dad's life? Crazy story. You WOOF people keep your troops in line!! :;):

Quoting from the Bones 5 Enthusiasm thread.  My question is off topic for that thread:

I’ll probably do the same I did for B4, which was to start at the core $100, and then monitor for pieces I’d be willing to buy at retail. Once those sums go over the KS cost, then I’ll pony up some more cash. With having four Bones backed now, I’m running out of space and considering speed painting older figures I have little interest in, then pushing them out to eBay just to be rid of them.

Is this something you've done before?

In a general sense, does speed painting add to value or subtract?  I'm curious how it works out in practice.

This is a question open to anyone, by the way.  I've never looked into buying speed painted figures, so I'm not sure how common it is to sell them.

The conventional wisdom is that a paintjob does not particularly add to the value. (But that generally applied to metal miniatures.)

I think people that buy figures with paint on them usually intend to strip the paint away.

The one exception is anything painted by very well known professionals. (Julio Cabos, Jen Hailey, Marike Reimer, etc. etc. etc. ) In those cases the value is enhanced.

I woke up at 4 am this morning, could not nap at all today and I'm still awake. It is 10:45 pm.

I do not wish to be awake.

After a fruitful trip to the hobby shop sale day, I find myself with more Death & Graveyard Stuff for the D&D campaign, a Reaper Bones torture rack (to go with the WizKids one), and a metal Viridius in the box, plus a few Vallejo metallic paints. I now find myself speed painting more skeletons. I hate painting skeletons, but I wanted specifically skeletal archers, because I'm going to have ~20 of them fire on our halfling at once. Least favorite boners ever. SO BORING TO PAINT. But meh, the basic ones will be fast. Leaving the others unpainted for now (got a pack of basic skele archers, and the skele guardian archers - the guardians also have cloth, meh).

Maybe I'll get Meaty done-ish by Wednesday. Probably not. And I have to get up sick-broccoli early tomorrow morning to administer an EIGHT AM EXAM. ON A WEEKEND. That's true evil. I might be planning on kidnapping and tormenting a PC in game, but I won't make them get up for 8am punishment. That's just wrong.

I'm sorry to hear that.  Pain usually chases me out of slumberland every 2-4 hours but I usually can fall back to sleep quickly.  Good thing or I would be a walking zombie!

@Cyradis infer your pain, next week in doing a new system kickoff at a site and they want to train all the operators at morning shift change:  6 AM!  So twice a week i have to get up to no the training...

Coffee...

The city moved my car again. Apparently they're doing some roadwork where I originally parked. I got SUPER LUCKY that they moved it to my usual dog walking path... So I was able to move it out of the 1 Hour Metered Parking spot they'd dumped it in. :grr: FFS....
