Warlord Rulebook

Dewen and reaperMatt are correct. Dwarven Bear riders become non-unique solitiares. Adepts become Grunts. I was looking at the wrong thing, and thought DBRs were Adepts - not Solitaires. My apologies for the confusion.

DOH! I'm having a day, aren't I? It's MOSSBEARD, not TREEBEARD (there I go with the LOTR thing again!) And DBC are Unique Solitaries, so in a Dwarven army, they become just Solitaries. They don't need command. Sheese.

Does this mean that a 500 point skirmish goup could be made up of five DBC's? WICKED! ::D:

Would it be possible to field skirmish groups made up of Solo units, with no command structure? By the time you add in spells and magical goodies, Mossbeard could be a 500 point skirmish unit all by himself.

Any chance Centaurs could be added to this list for the Elves? Having more than one Treebeard would be cool in a really large army, but Centaurs are a whole lot cheaper.

Actually, Centaurs are Solitaires, not Unique Solitaires, so you can field 1 Centaur per other troop fieled already. There is not at this time, a way to field an entire Troop of Centaurs, but I think if you fielded 3-4 Centaurs, that's pretty good, Vs. 3-4 very points-costly Mossbeards. (Centaurs are 200 points cheaper than the Treeman, so I think it's a better fit anyway)

A scenario could be built around a force of Treemen, but Scenario rules can sometimes supercede the regular army construction rules. Unless a scenario rule allows for this (Scenario: Fight the Forest! - Objective, the enemy has 4 treemen (1500 pts with upgrades/spells) ) then it would not normally fall under viable units.

I think you should consider including a scenario like this, if fielding this type of army appeals to you. ::):

OOH, Bryan, that's just wicked! Can we run it at GenCon?

MUWAHAHA, sounds like a fun scenario to run for a tournament or convention.

Can we run it at GenCon?

likely not under the Reaper Umbrella of events for this year.

we'll talk there to see what we can work up for next year.

That said, if you're BL and want to run something, have the materials, the time, and there's an empty table in the Reaper area, you could probably manage to do so. I ran my aircraft-carrier scenario at Gencon last year like that.

This is subject, by the way, to Ladystorm saying No and jumping up and down on my spine if she wants. Listen to her in this case, not me, since she's gonna be there and I won't.

That sounds awesome, Cheryl. If you need someone to help paint the required minis for next year, I'd be happy to help.

I got interested in running Warlord to support my LGS. I love painting, but my LGS is more into selling games than craft supplies. As they already had an extensive line of Warlord minis, it seemed the natural choice.

But having played the game, I've become very excited about it on it's own merit.

If I get a little over eager as a result, please take it in the spirit it's intended.

Can you give us a % chance of the book in our hands by say Aug, 27th?

I have a convention to run 5 Three hour sessions of Warlord at, and a rule book or 4 would be a life saver, even 1 mockup would help.

I am running 2 sessions Friday, 2 Sat, and a Paint and Take and one Sunday.

Terrain types listed in the book have movement cost modifiers and some provide cover. Some but not all are not listed in both. Light woods for example provides cover of light 2 and has a movement cost. What about walls? For example an ogre wants to go over a medium height wooden or stone wall. Is this handled by the stunt climb? A treant wouldn't have a problem stepping over it. Our "house rule" was that if a structure like a wall did not provide cover, you could pass over it without a penalty. Your thoughts and input are appreciated.
