Great effect on the beard, and I think the ice worked out well, particularly with the two levels and th grass poking through. It looks like he's raiding just below the snow line.

OUTSTANDING! He really is a SPECTACULAR creation. In addition to all the the fine brushwork that other Folk have touched on, I LOVE the horns, AND your SPLENDID work on the base. VERY WELL DONE once more!

Love the horns! And I'm forever envious of painters that can paint a convincing looking fur cloak. I try again and again but I never seem to get past "acceptable but dull" (at best).

Thank you! I looked at photos of longhorn horns and found some that I thought were interesting and tried to copy what I saw. They were different than just being dark at the tips so I thought that would add more visual interest.

As for painting fur, again, I google pictures and then try and figure out how to copy what I see with paint. This guy's fur is a few shades of brown with a dark wash then drybrushed with a lighter brown and then black around the edges with a black ink wash on just the black areas. It is such a coarse fur texture, it made the drybrushing easy and had lots of nooks and crannies for the washes to settle in. I also didn't care if some of the washes and paint overlapped a little as it made it look more blended. I try and do fur like I paint any other mini, from the skin out. I used to hate painting fur but now I really enjoy it! (Get a pack of wolves! That is what did it for me, lots of practice on wolves! They have lots of different colors and fur patterns!)

Thank you, everyone! I always try to do something new on each mini or at least practice something. I am really trying to make my metals look better. I do not enjoy painting metal and I think it is because I can't make it look how I see it in my head. I was pretty happy with this guy's metals. Once I feel I can do adequate metallic paint metal, I want to start seriously trying to learn NMM. Will 2019 be the year I finally learn? The plaid was just for fun. I wanted something more than just a solid color and plaid seemed appropriate.
