My crew of five drew an earliest hotel registration time of 2:00 this afternoon, which wasn't enough to score a room in a connected hotel.  It looks like we'll be out by the airport again this year, so that will place a premium on traveling light, and shopping responsibly. ::P:

Next task, decide whether we're driving, and how to configure two different miniature war-games for air travel.  Perhaps this is the year when Fat Dragon fold-flat buildings will cover the table...

We are going to go this year, my wife will be shopping while I game!

Have you been before? This will be our sixth consecutive year (plus one more in 1980...)

Got our rooms. managed to get in early time and got one of the hotels past the football field. Not the one we wanted, but the one just past it. We will definitely be driving so our next task is to decide our car situation. One of our party has to work on the 31st and cannot get out of it so she and her fiancee are heading down the next day. We usually go in two cars with 3 a car but since we'll be down 2 people for the ride down, do we load up in one SUV or stay split up in two smaller cars as we caravan down.

No, retired now so it is doable this year with the time off!

I'd recommend googling around for Gencon Survival Guides.  My main observation is that you will be on your feet a lot, so I wear comfortable hiking boots with ankle support. How did you do with rooms?  (Because if you weren't in the lottery yesterday, you most likely won't be any closer than ~15 miles away from the convention center.)

I pulled 447p on the housing lottery.  closest i could get was 11.7mi away.  i ended up cancelling that, then throwing 2x the money at a hotel about 3 blocks away.  i'm really tempted to get a VIG badge, or at least look at it.  i think i read somewhere, but don't quote me, that a VIG badge will give you preferential housing lottery numbers.

Well, I've decided to splurge on a trip to Gen Con, since my daughter's going to be off visiting family and I'll be all alone.  Is there a reaper forum get-together at some time?

Figured you probably were, but if you were driving, I'd offer you a place to stop approx halfway.  Have fun!

Well, let me know, maybe I can slip the pilot an extra twenty to buzz your house. :)

Not sure about this year, the summer is a bit up in the air for us.

I have relatives in Indy though, so I don't have to worry about accommodations.

So, It is that time of year again! When the winds of flatulence waft the delecate aromas of nerdfunk into ones nostrils! The Convention season is here! And I won't be going to one! At least not a big one. So no GenCon for me :( But I'm still supporting the DDM Guild events there! So, I'm sharing my WiP pictures here.

The "Thundercorn" as I am calling it, is nearly done. just a bit of touch ups and the base to go.

The Pit Fiend just has the base coats on at this time.

The White Wyrmling has the second layer of shading started.

This is a Scaladar. I think it is supposed to be a robot scorpion that shoots lightning. I have a rather ambitious plan for it though. It has a bunch of cracks in its armor and joints. I'm painting those cracks to look like it has bright crackling lightning inside it! Then I plan to paint the armor a bronze or brass.

For the last three years, I've gotten to attend Origins in Ohio, and have really loved doing the Reaper Speedpaint (and even won last year). I was hoping to go and participate in the Speedpaint again this year, but I was going through the Origins 2019 event schedule and didn't see a single entry from Reaper. Is Reaper not going to be at Origins this year, or at least not hosting any events?

Huh usually I put one of these up sooner than this. Just been busy I guess.
      Who's all going?
How did you fair in the hotel lottery?

       So Sunday was event registration.
Did you get into the events you wanted?

My group did fairly well at the hotel thing this year even though we had to split the group this year. both hotels are fairly close.
I got into most of the events I wanted. had some issues with the priority system preventing me from getting into events because it conflicted with another event that I would only be going to if I hadn't gotten into an earlier time. Yet some how it did allow me to sign up for 2 Speed paints that conflicted with other events that I got into. (and I only realized one before paying)
Also I just a bit ago remembered that I wanted to do a Frostgrave event but they are all sold out already.

Sooo .... who else is going to Paizocon?
      That's .. erm, May 25th to 28th - so I might be a bit late asking for some of you. ^^;

I know Mr. Thorne and I will be there. Don't know what all we'll be doing exactly, but I know we'll be there.
