I miss when those actually came in glass bottles...  Nowadays it's most just cans, or... paper cartons.  The glass bottles are hard to find around here.

Maybe that is why I stopped...I was very much a fan of the glass bottles.

Funny,

Those are available here in the Netherlands, in different flavours, I buy them for oldest vixen who loves them, especially the one with watermelon.

This ^ is the one I used to drink.

Not sure why I stopped. Maybe I found out AriZona Teas/Beverages had not a thing to do with Arizona the state. A corporation HQ’d in New York using the name of the (48th?) state as a brand name...sounds a bit dodgy when I type it.

Looks like TS is under the weather again, so here goes for today.

Tea: hot or cold?

Yes.

Eh, apparently back in the 90's when the company (which used to make beer) decided to start making tea, they just thought it sounded cool and looked cool with a capital z. They've never tried to claim they had anything to do with the state of Arizona.

Oh, they probably still are here, it's just when the cans hold more, cost $0.99 (instead of $2.50 or so), and are in pretty much every supermarket (versus just convenience stores) you tend to slowly forget about the glass bottles.  Some days the Green Tea Ginseng was my favourite, othertimes it was the Iced tea.

Tea can only be properly prepared with boiling water at 100 degrees C.

At high altitudes water boils below this temperature.

It is not commonly realised that Sir Edmund Hilary got his knighthood, not for climbing Mount Everest, but for enduring badly made tea during the expedition.

Black tea requires boiling water. Green, white, and oolong teas ask for lower brewing temperatures.

I'm suddenly curious to know which teas are most popular in the Himalayas, and what about steeping tea with a pressure cooker (higher pressure means boiling temperature >100°C).

Edit: Seems it's possible to brew high pressure tea with an espresso machine.

I could not answer for the Himalayas, but during my visits to The Pamirs and Tien Shan it was mainly green teas.

I suppose a pressure cooker might work at higher altitudes. Presumably Sherpa Tenzing objected to carrying one all the way to the top of Everest.

Well, I totally missed the weekend.  Sorry.  Sick wife and lots to do.  Back at it now though.

Life is hard but it beats the alternative.
