Feb 19: What's the longest break you've taken from the forum? (Crowley)

About a couple of weeks.

Every so often I get it into my head to just stop wasting time on forums and such, but it never sticks for too long.

It took me about six years before I started visiting the Forum on a regular basis. Since 2013, the longest break was our road trip to Long Island.

I was off the air then for two or three weeks. Sometimes I am less enthusiastic about the place & I'll just pop in for a brief visit.

I don't think I've gone more than a few days without checking the forums since I joined. I have a job with a fair amount of downtime at night, so I have plenty of time to browse the interwebs.

I joined here 6 years ago and for a long time it wasn't my main forum that I read. So really can't say about breaks then. Could've been months between visits. In the last couple of years since I've become addicted to you all maybe a week. When we're travelling I don't get on the internet much and we sometimes get away for a week. Somewhere along the line this form became on of my major forms of entertainment so I read it way more than I should.

You raise a very fair distinction.

I was counting my "breaks" as any time off since I started posting regularly shortly after ReaperCon '13. I was an on-again, off-again lurker for slightly over a year before that, but I do not count any of that time as a 'break', because I had only made a handful of posts in my first year.

Haven't really kept track of this.

But I'll be absent for about 10 days in March, wonderful wife has just told me we have a holiday in Ecuador to look forward to.

About two weeks back in 2012. It was actually exactly at this time in February too.

Went down to Anaheim for 5 days followed by a weeks cruise down to Mexico.

Thats the last real vacation I’ve been on too.

Probably a week or so around an extended holiday.

I was a bit disenfranchised when the decision to bar consolidated WIP threads here, killed a lot of the community feel that had developed. Then I stopped painting minis and there's not a ton of interest in my current art projects, so I mostly just pop into this thread now and again.

Yeah, my posting has definitely dropped since that happened.  I just don't have an interest in one-off threads and spend little time in the WIP subforum now.

B......br.....break?

I'm ALWAYS here. Even when it doesn't look like I'm here, I'm here. I don't do anything else. All of the stories and anecdotes I've ever told here didn't actually happen to me, I saw them through the window, or on another screen and changed them to make them my own. Mine. MINE!! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(More seriously---probably the past few weeks when I was moving.)

Not sure if this qualifies as "fantasy" but I'm a huge fan of David Mack. He does a lot of work with Neil Gaiman and makes drawings along with his writings. This is one of my favorites:

ETA: Text reads:

"I hope you'll make mistakes.

If you're making mistakes,

it means you're out there

doing something.

Go and make

interesting mistakes, make amazing mistakes,

make glorious and fantastic mistakes.

Break rules.

Leave the world more interesting

for your being here." -Neil Gaiman

That's very difficult to do. I could name half a dozen I really like and a score more I wish I could be half as good as.

But, for today, I'll go with Ciruelo Cabral.

Redacted.  Redacted.  Soooooo much redacted.   I'd also have to choose which redacted I like the most, and that's a tough call to make...

While I'd love to share their tame artwork, I'd rather still be able to access the forums here, so... No can do ::P:

Well, if you're gonna let me define fantasy artist, I'm gonna say Alphonse Marie Mucha. I've been in love with his work since I first saw it as an impressionable teenager.

This is one called "Moon". He did a lot of personifications of nature.

If you're gonna force me to use a more contemporary definition, then I'll choose Stephanie Law.

Dark Sword produced a diorama piece for this painting.

There are quite a few artists who I admire & find inspiring. My current favorite is Pascal Moguerou.
