Saint of Sinners
Ok I couldn't go to Orgins But I'm curiorious as to who won the Warmaster's tourney? Was it an unknown? Or someone from the forum or Mil-net?
SOldcorn
Leech retained the title. But I am sure he will post details later. Go Brits !!!! I put it down to all my games against him, I have taught him everything he knows Stuart
Leech
Indeed I did retain the title, being the first person to do so sucessfully. At each and every stage I met formidable opponents, who showed great skill and cunning. But the blessings of the Great Ogre were with me and my particle bolts and gauss slugs proved too much for my foes. In all seriousness, mad props goes to everyone who took part. They fought well, and I think it was more lucky dice karma which carried me through... and possibly army selection :o) It was incredbily enjoyable, and there was several forum regulars who fought in the tournament. The Mantis also proved a very popular CAV, since there was at least a pair in every single qualifying round, at least four in at each semi-final and the final had 9 of them in it! Yes, everyone had at least two Mantises. As I said, props to everyone, especially the newbs who took part with photocopied data cards (that took guts). KAMUT
Congradulations Frank! I heard the news and am impressed, Lone Wolf salutes you bro. Good Job!
Jeremy
He only won cause Brawler6 and I waited one turn to long to stop pounding on each other and repair. Yes the Final round had 9 Mantis, and its alos worth mentioning that the first and second place individuals didnt have any Pilot or Wizzo upgrades. Just incase you were wondering, I was second! Next year Frank. You wont get it 3 in a row!
Erion
Wow. Lots of Mantises. It's a good, solid CAV. I use at least one in almost every game I play now. How did the '70 Dictators fare?
KAMUT
LOL, hey but sometimes people capitolize on things like that; If I know Frank, I'm willing to bet, the cagey ole veteran had it in his mind "Hmmm, lemme do what I gotta do, while these two tear each others head off!" LOL, congradulations to second and third place winners too; Frank, sounds like next year, your a marked man.
Leech
Funny you should say that Kamut, they said I was this year so I was expecting a 3 vs me but they just went about pounding each other a little. Jeremy, if you and Brawler 6 had repaired for that extra turn, the chances are I'd have slammed you still just wouldn't have had as much left over. The outcome would have probably been the same, just more dead Bad Blood than there were :o) Erion, funny you should mention that. My qualifier was Storminator and Stormus and another player. Storminator had a Mastodon with the Bullseye VII and Stormus had 2 '70 Dictators, while the other guy had a Rhino. I also fielded a 70 Dictator. The 70's didn't do all that much, simply because they got targeted fairly quickly, and the Mastodon fired at my Duelist... it did one point of damage (MoS 4) and then died to a combo of defensive fire and offensive fire (two angry Blood Manti, a father put upon Duelist and a '70 Dictator having a bad day will do that to you :o)). In the second round, my 70 overdrove once then got slammed to death by defensive fire. In the final round, I was the only person with a 70 (like the semi) and it tended to scratch paint when it overdrove and do damage when it didn't. Besides, in the semi, I kind of abandoned my game plan hence why it got killed. At the end of the day, the '70 Dictator was nasty, and did cause a couple of odd moments of joviality, but on the whole it wasn't a major issue. The price error on the PP-64 was exploited a whole lot though :o) Shame was, Jeremy's found the only 6 track CAV it doesn't work very well on - the Starhawk VI :o)
Jeremy
Yeah, but my error didnt actually come into play due to the fact that once they were damaged enogh that the inability to fire everything and move was negated by the fact that I was already where I wanted to be and didnt need, or want to move. So basically all it did was drop the cost by 20 points. Not a bad trade. Oh and they were HUGE targets!!

Actually, I took one plink from your DF, and you did the last 2 points to my Mastodon, but the middle 5 points of damage were done by Stormus' overdriving '70 in one round. Your full offense dropped my Falcon to the nether regions... My mighty Mastodon got two +10s and a +13 and did a total of 2 points of damage. Mightily pathetic. Leech
I know I dropped your Falcon Strominator.. I'm still picking bits and pieces of it's hull from between my Manti's toes :o) I didn't realise Stormus has overdriven so much. Still, he did have twice as many Gkw14's as I did :o)

If only my other units rolled as well as that Duellist... PS
