City of the Hobgoblin King: 3D Printable Fantasy RPG Terrain

Recommended Posts

Looking for Asian themed 3d printable buildings and terrain.

http://kck.st/2EnIXlN

War rages across the borders of the Empire, and creatures of legend descend from the hills and mountains to prey upon helpless villages and even the better-defended walled towns of these regions. Most deadly of them all is the Hobgoblin King, ruler of a vast city populated by his hobgoblin legions and their oni allies, along with flocks of quarrelsome tengu and even humans who traffic with such evil beings.  The adventure sets offered in this Kickstarter range from defending a small village or attacking an outpost of hobgoblin soldiers, to adventuring in a human city based loosely on Northeastern Asia, to an all-out war in the Hobgoblin King's own city! The pieces are designed for 28mm D&D or other fantasy RPG gaming, but can be scaled to 15mm for wargames using smaller scale.

These .stl files allow you to print two entire cities with dramatically different architecture reflecting their inhabitants, along with sinister bamboo forests to fill with monsters, treasures, and puzzles! Whether you're fighting hobgoblin raiders, conniving with thieves, plotting against the Emperor, or working to thwart the plans of the Hobgoblin King, this Kickstarter can give your players a visual spectacle they'll be talking about for years.

Well-known 3D sculptor Iain Lovecraft is teaming up with ENNIE award-winning author Matt Finch and Zach Glazar of Frog God Games to bring you buildings and terrain designed to provide what gamers need with tabletop terrain - places to hide, places to put figures, things to climb, and all the little details that can sometimes get left out of the sculpting process. Including the ever-present dangers of "fat fingers," being able to see the minis over the terrain, and cat attacks on the table setup.

All of these files print without the need for slicer supports.

Colour me interested!

Especially that it's made to be compatible with Fat Dragon's Dragonbite system and Dragonlock products.

I could see myself spending a lot on .stl files if I'm not careful. And I don't even have a printer yet.

Honestly, unless you have an idea of how to print stuff cheaply until you get one, it's probably best to wait until you know you're getting one.

I have  bunch of stls but I was quoted 1000$ to print from my files locally. I was later able to find a licensed reseller who would charge 100$ + shipping, which is annoying because I dont get a discount for having bought the files. At this point the files are wasted money to me.

Ah, that would explain the membership card I have in my wallet.

I'm in the odd situation that I get all of the Fat Dragon .stl files for free after getting the lifetime pledge level of his last paper craft KS, which grants me a copy of *everything* he produced after that point (hooray for cheap digital!).

He's been in 3D ever since, so I have a ton of his 3D models, and have yet to print a single one.

If I ever do get a 3D printer, my future in gaming props is secure.

Back to this KS: I *really* like the Asian theme buildings as they are not a common product by North American standards. And having them be very modular is icing on the cake.

I just call that stocking the library. ::D:

That reminds me I need to download some "Lost Dragons". Most likely I'll do that tomorrow, along with other stl files that I've been putting off from Kickstarters & such.

Just looked at this one finally (clicked the link, but went upstairs & totally spaced this one off). I like the designs but I'd rather have the buildings be more modular like existing Fat Dragon tile buildings & such. Scatter terrain & such is awesome. If there was a option for just those, count me in, but since you have to go in at kinda spendy levels to even get the stretch goals, eh count me out on this one. Something I haven't been saying to allot of stl file kickstarters.

@haldir In Facebook I requested the same thing. HEre's what they said:

Me: I would love to see an official actually modular building in this theme if that’s possible! Being able to make larger buildings or duplicate maps would be awesome

Them: I just wrote almost an essay about modularity in the comments. I think we'll do that in a kind of "by popular demand" effect, but my experience with city adventures (definitely as opposed to dungeon adventures) is that they tend to move around in much less predictable directions. So at least for me as a DM it's more helpful to be able to grab a couple of floors and put them together than to assemble several smaller pieces. Dungeon adventures are structured, but city adventures, at least the way I run them, tend to be a matter of speedy response.

Them:
But the request is noted, and I will start talking to Iain about it.

Me: thank you for considering it

Them: @me You've convinced me. I'm not in charge of what pieces get made, but I will definitely put in a firm request.
:)

It just ended and some nice stretch goals were reached. We even got a not-Bowser turtle god out of it.

Spoiler

I pledged for the top tier (includes a human castle and more walls), and I still don't own a 3D printer.

I stumbled upon this with less than 48 hours until the end. I don't yet own a 3-D printer, though I may have one within a year or two, and I was strongly tempted, but I didn't wind up backing it, sadly.

I did the 2 bucks bid mainly to keep in the loop + there was slim chance I was going to back. Overall it's a nice set but the pledge levels & price was a bit over what I wanted to pay.

I do like the idea of a hobgoblin empire (kinda of what I've envisioned hobgoblins to be anyways).

Here is the link to the spreadsheet I found where users list different resins and settings that have worked.

After buying and trying to make prints (big fail) I realized that the ApplyLabWork resin was designed for high power slp resin printers.

I have had decent luck with Monocure 3D Rapid, Anycubic, and Wanhao brand resins.

That's what I did. I figured a few of them had some great deals and the printers are only going to keep getting more affordable. Heck, they are sometimes the deal of the day and are often lightning deals. It's how I picked up both my Anycubic printers (Photon and Mega S).

The Grand Duchy of Reme awaits!
Starting in 2002 Necromancer Games began populating its Lost Lands campaign setting one adventure at a time. The Grand Duchy of Reme is the region home to classic adventures released by Necromancer Games for D20/3.x and Frog God Games for Pathfinder, Swords & Wizardry and Fifth Edition.
More than 10 adventures have brought life to the Grand Duchy of Reme. The Lost Lands Campaign Sourcebook funded in January is expected to be over 700 pages and all of them are full of information. By necessity each region was described broadly, but there are still a wealth of history, politics and other details to be explored, experience and expanded in the Grand Duchy of Reme.
The Grand Duchy of Reme is a system neutral hardcover volume designed to be useful for campaigns independent of system preference. Specific details that affect the characters in the Lost Lands there are System Encounter Books. These companion volumes are softcover (or PDF), that contain reference stats for use with the Region book along with detailed encounter tables for the region.
Additionally, 3 classic adventures previously unavailable for Pathfinder, Swords & Wizardry, and Fifth Edition are back. These are offered as either softcover add-ons in backerkit or as free stretch goals in PDF (see reward sidebar).
Mock-up of Grand Duchy of Reme. Final release will differ slightly The city of Reme itself is ancient, with world-spanning trade — the eternal citadel of the Loreclans, where the ashes of legendary barbarian kings reside. This land lies near the slow collapse of the nearby Empire of Foere, and the rise of Bard’s Gate to the East. The Rhemish watch these events with cold eyes rather than concern, for they live in vast regions that devour invaders. Their land is eternal; their people can be forced back to the plains, but in the plains they can abide for as long as need be. They are — as a people — the ultimate hunters. The fall of Foere is like the fall of an antelope upon the plains; the rise of Bard’s Gate is little more than the stepping-up of jackals before the body. The Grand Duchy of Reme simply waits and watches — for Reme is the dwelling-place of the world’s wolves.
Reme is a unique fantasy civilization whose structure is determined by the one overriding fact of its geography — the country is a vast, grassland plain. The realm is dominated by the culture of the ancient Loreclans: the urbanized and settled ones, and the nomadic clans of the interior. The Loreclans owe a certain fealty to the Dukes of Reme, who are the final arbiters of the ancient law of the plains, but between the Loreclans and the Dukes there are also the mysterious Pashtars: arbiters, judges, and mediators who roam the plains where their service takes them.
The city of Reme, of course, is one of the wonders of the world of the Lost Lands, home of powerful spell-casters and perhaps the greatest mercantile and war fleets of the Crescent Sea. It is also, however, steeped in the culture of the vast plains of the interior. It is a place where assumptions are dangerous, for it is no standard fantasy environment — it is a culture that will be entirely new and foreign to your players, a place to truly explore as well as adventure.
