So based ion the public announcement of The Terrain Tutor's family split, stuff is probably significantly, maybe indefinitely delayed. They don't know. They are being open about that. The book is not completely written. The most recent update has a statement and a link to the official announcement with more details. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1560579763/terrain-essentials/posts/2706679

It probably took me 2 years to get my head on straight after my divorce, and it was really drama free. The necessity to continue working and having that time to focus on things outside of my personal life was actually a reprieve. I hope that they get focused for the sake of the backers and their own mental health/diversion.

Honestly, my impression was that if Mel and his partner could so maturely handle a separation for the sake of their family and be candid about it, it speaks volumes about Mel's ability to follow through with the project.  I honestly don't expect the delays to be anything beyond what would be normal for a Kickstarter project, even with this bad news.

Agreed, but there will be a personal grieving period that he'll go through. Regardless, I can wait on the book for a while longer than expected. I'm always shocked when a project delivers early or on time in the first place!!

it's hard to say what his grieving will be like, without really knowing him. For me, most of my grieving was in the time leading up to our separation, and it was far easier for me to be a functional adult after my ex moved out. It took a couple of years for me to put my life back together in terms of finances, but it made creative endeavors a lot easier for me.
I really won't worry unless we start going months without some sort of update.
