Maybe putting him on top of a fair rock would give him some more contrast ?

revised - I tried a rock, and adding a broken fence from Bob Redolfi's scarecrow diorama - class - but the rock worked better. 

had I thought of the fence earlier it would have made a great balancing element, but  it didn't quite fit.

A) That is lovely work on a Chaotic Good Boy! Beautiful painting.

B) I have done the ornament-mini thing, and if your base is light and you have a few chunks of cork or foam of diminishing sizes you can indeed glue them in a tapering fashion to the underside of the base and then paste the whole shebang to the side of one of the hemispheres.
