Owl Bear 44001 + Ankheg 77230

Recommended Posts

Some basic table-top paints here,  The owlbear paint is (more or less) a straight up copy of the Reaper website example but i think the base is interesting.  It starts off basically as a rock/gravel pile, and I thought it was rather boring so i turned it into the Owl Bear's cave floor covered in feces about an arms length deep. Practiced some sculpting on it. With P3 putty The big rocks were turned into Ogre skulls, a horse skull, and a face-down skeleton of some sad creature, all simmering in poo :)

The Ankheg, it's always a balance of painting something like for max visual appeal or realism, went with the latter since something that just burst out of the ground would be pretty dirty, at least on the side it's digging with. This is my own work, did not copy anything so in that regard I'm pretty happy with it.

For the back, went with a Game Color Dragon Green mixed with Filigree Silver, highlighted with a mix of bright yellow, Army painter Hemp rope, and a touch silver.

The Owl Bear fur is  Black Base + Citadel Rhinox Hide ,Game-color Woodland Brown and Dessert Tan layered in. Wings are Stormy gray lightening out Rainy gray  on tips. For some reason this model was really east to paint ,  it never fought back like some of them do, (probably because i coped a picture ;)

thanks, I'm really happy with it considering no formal training as a sculptor.

As many here probly already know, doing just one paint after another can get tiresome, so the sculpting, Dioramas, modeling/kit bashing are a really nice way to break up the monotony , get better, and keep it interesting.

For anyone new to this hobby, i strongly urge you to get some putty, a set of tools(mine are army painter , 3 for $10) and give it a try. At this scale a tiny amount of putty goes a very long way and it's really satisfying when you get something like a horse skull , new weapon, or even fix a casting error/gap ,  or even miscast in a lead or plastic model = super rewarding.

'Tis the season! I posted this a while ago before is got paint on him. Santac'Laus has featured in the Christmas one-shot games I've run for the last couple of years (and this year is no exception). He's gone from villain to lovable (but weird) friend, who rides a manta-ray-shaped sleigh, pulled by a team of beholders.

If you're one of my players, please don't read the spoiler!

The hat, sack and present were all made with green stuff. The snow was made with snow powder mixed with water effects.

Hello forum family, I wanna share with ya all my most recent fatigue: Marthragul!
I was in doubt if painting it into a realistical Earth dragon, or something more colourful... The Magenta won! :D
And I chose to don't cut corners, so no drybrush, no washes, no feathering... just dear, old layering, shading and glazing
...cause I'm a fast painter, as you know

And, yeah! This took me almost a month of at least two hours per day... basically I hate this dragon now

Enough talking, time for pics :D

I really hope you like it, if you have any question do not hesitate :)
As always every C&C is more than welcome.
      Thank you :)

I painted this guy up, despite having eyes on Gale Force 9's Behir for my personal use. Decided to go ahead and liquidate it in a certain auction site, but so far, no takers. Ah, well. It's still a nice looking mini, so it doesn't hurt to have one around until I manage to finish painting the GF9 Behir... Comments, recommendations, and suggestions are appreciated.
