I've watched all their KS ... and they are just too much for me. The price point when I would get what I wanted has always been too high. Add high shipping costs and customs ... and I'm way better off with a 3D printer.

Looks cool, but I was priced out several KSers ago.

The illumination panels through the transparent pieces are pretty neat.

Yeah, I am a little torn. I am tempted to get some of the shore pieces and the lava flow transition pieces. I have bought a bunch of the Dwarvenforge stuff in the past, but the price/value keeps getting worse to me too. I can buy a lot of filament for the 3D printer and paint for the roughly $500 I would invest here to get some interesting layouts

Did they switch to low walls for this one? They look lower than normal. If so then they aren't really compatible with the stuff I have and will have to pass. Might have to pass regardless as I've been kinda priced out of these for a while and he always somehow does them when my budget's the tightest.

Some of the peices are 4"x4" so it makes the wall look lower but it should all work great with other DF caverns.

Have to think about it.  They are pricey but I am lazy and it won't hurt my budget too much to have some.  3d printing is pretty cool but then I have to keep the printer running and paint all the pieces and wait for each piece.  And sometimes the printed pieces are not as advertised.  The pieces from fat dragon were a big letdown for me, not because of what they were but how they were oriented, forcing me to glue and change dimensions of standard pieces.

Dwarven forge may be expensive but I have never been disappointed and I have found uses for it in rpg, warhammer, kill team, frostgrave and a number of other games as well as making up a significant portion of my Christmas village every year :winkthumbs: so at least it doesn't sit unused in a bin somewhere.  I do wish it was less expensive though...

Where is the 3D printing technology at? Would it be a  good idea to focus on the LED pieces and illumination panels with this while spending money on buying a 3D printer?

What Kangaroorex said is accurate. Although, so far I have been happy with the FatDragon stuff. They are not as nice as the DF stuff as there is a tell tale printed look to the top surface of floor stones, but the look great at arms distance.  I am currently printing some Printable Scenery modular docks to see how they look. With that said, iI am probably going to do what you said and focus on LED and a few unique pieces. Hecks I hardly ever game and my son and I just use them to make awesome builds anyways.

I thought I would be able to avoid this one as well but that was a foolish idea. While I don't think I will back any of the encounters I will probably go heavy into lava rivers, some accessories and a gate!  I'll be watching this one over the next couple weeks. I did not buy any of their previous lava sets and i'm glad I didn't as I view this as far superior.

I have very little time to paint and prefer to paint miniatures when I do have the time so for me there is so much value in pre painted terrain.
