77031 Cassie, Gnome Wizard by Werner Klocke

I recently started a project to go through the Bones 1 KS models I have in order from a printout of the Rewards pictures.

Here is the first project: Cassie, Gnome Wizard.  There are some great examples of her out there.  I knew I wanted a purple-haired gnome, and just went from there.

The most aggravating part of this miniature was the cloak.  I wasn't planning on spending so much time on these figures, but I tried a freehand Raindrop pattern, and it took a long time.

Amazing job on those water drops! They almost look genuinely 3D.

Very cool!  I love the cloak. That must have been a ton of work, and in my opinion it pays off.  Her eyes are fabulous.  I also really like the NMM you've done on the staff and the edges of the cloak.  I feel that the only thing which detracts from the overall finish is the gravel on the base.  It doesn't quite obscure the plastic base.  I find that with the Bones figures it is really easy to slice them off their bases.  I think it would be worthwhile to either cut her off the base and put her on a new one, or use some greenstuff to merge the base she comes with into the round plastic base she is now attached to.

That's a fair criticism, Geoff.  Thanks for the feedback.

I tend to be more aggressive about getting rid of "Broccoli" bases, but her integral base is sculpted as rock, so I chose to leave it and make it look like a stone buried in the dirt, mainly to save time.

The time you put into the cloak was time well spent. It came out beautifully.

Also your work on her face and the stone/gem blade of the spear are especially notable.

Dude that 3D effect on the raindrops... I learn so much from copying effects like yours. The NMM looks great too. I’m trying my hand at it now and losing focus of what I’m trying to achieve, so great job here. And your skin tones and eyes are just great. All around A+.
