Highlighting Nightmare / Noir Black

Recommended Posts

Hi all, have just discovered two really fantastic colours in the RMS range, nightmare & Noir black.

Really love the very subtle effect they give but having trouble highlighting them and not ruining the subtlety  / keeping them looking natural.

Does anyone who has used these paints a bit have any hints tips or colour suggestions for giving these paints a highlight & a bit of pop without ruining them?

Many thanks in advance!

I just add very tiny amounts of white to them for the highlights. Adding slightly more for each successive highlight.

Not certain about Noir Black, but for Nightmare black, I think I'd use a dark Purple as the first highlight.

I treat Nightmare Black as an extension of the "Grey Blues" (Midnight Blue, Twilight Blue, and Snow Shadow).

Depending on what type of painter you are (I'm strictly a "tabletop" level painter, and not worried about the smoothest blends), you might find some interesting options in that.
