Ladies of Death by Glitterwolf

Recommended Posts

Ranked-choice voting:

1) Vampire lady with the chalice and gargoyle. She looks like a Gothic mansion-owner and comes with extra set pieces.

2) Lady with skull at the bottom. Dynamic figure.

3) Tia de los Muertos.

Do you have the old RAFM 3888 Queen of the Damned?  She's old-school 25mm, but definitely fits the theme.

(She was always one of my favorites - how often do you see a woman with a horde of undead  climbing out from under her floor-length hair, y'know?)

Thank you people.

There is still time to vote still I didn't have time to paint yet.

One problem though, the resin lady? I'm missing one arm..I can't find it.

Maybe I need to replace it with something else.

Hm..let's see where we stand at the moment.

  • Vampire Lady Nr. 1 ( top pic)                                                - 2 votes
  • Kierra Darkdreamer ( lady with bird)                                    - 1 vote
  • Siobhanna ( classic version with chalice and gargoyle)   - 1 vote
  • Ghost Bride                                                                               - 2 votes
  • Lady Death ( Freebooter)                                                       -  3 votes ( one as third choice)
  • Resin Vampire with Skull                                                       -  1 vote ( as second choice) Alas she misses an arm. I need to see if I can fis that.
  • Siobhanna ( new version with bat)                                      -  1 vote

@Mad Jack I do not have her, I know about her and she looks awesome, but I haven't got her.

I'd like to vote for Lady Death please. I've never seen that mini before and I now find myself desperately needing it ::o:

She's out of production so you need to search on Evilbay.

Freebooter is from Werner Klocke, very nice minis.

So..Lady Death is in the lead with 4 votes ( one of which is a third choice).

Unfortunately that happens a lot with his stuff.  He does some real pretty minis and then it is gone.

This is Tiriel from Hasslefree Miniatures that I painted in TMM. She was a much needed fun figure to help keep my motivation going as I work on other larger projects as I tend to loose focus if I work on something too long with out finishing.

Bob Ridolfi's Graveflesh Servant (aka Bride of Frankenstein) in Bones.  I tried to get some different flesh tones on her various parts, do some bruising at the wounds, and not-exactly-sheer fabric effects.  Spent far less time on it than I should have.

Since I’m wrapping up Deladrin, here is the next in the queue.  Devona, Female Wizard.  She’s a curious wizard with plate mail leggings, a chain mail skirt, and a staff that looks more like a spear.  Also, is her torso adorned with a breastplate?  Or is it part of her dress?  And what’s up with the scalloped things on her back?

Not sure what I’m going to do with her.  I hope you enjoy the process of discovery tagging along with me.  The one thing I have decided is to try to give her more of an East Indian skin tone.

So to wrap up one of my 2020 goals, I figured I would start on actually *gasp* painting a Sophie! I have no less than 3 in my stash, and I figured I would start practicing some concepts from all of my learning while I was at it..

I decided to pick the ReaperCon 2017 Sophie and since she has somewhat of an aquatic theme to her, I am going to shamelessly "borrow" some ideas from Disney...because why not...

I did my usual priming routine but -THIS TIME- I added an additional directional light to reinforce a direction.

Also, I have turned back to inks for some foundation work. This time incorporating Sepia, Orange, and Yellow for the wings. Glazing over the transitions established by the airbrush to set the initial values and tones.

I followed up by using Reaper Burgundy Wine, Tanned Flesh and Fair Skin for the skin tones, including a bit of FW White Ink to lighten up the brightest highlights. I used Kimera Kolors magenta + White Ink and hit her lips. I might come back with a bit brighter color to hit the lip gloss sheen.

I still need to work on blending the transitions between light and dark areas, and as well as obviously hit the arms and legs more.

I also wanted to capture "Ariel's" aqua-emerald eyes. and I am REALLY happy how they came up this time. It doesn't hurt that this sculpt did a very good job of sculpting the eye area. So super-duper zoom to see the tiny eyes.

This was one of two figures I painted for @Fealron for the Secret Sophie this year.

His ideas were Metal, minimal basing for gaming use, a woodland creature, usually considered good but turned to evil, and a minion of a necromancer.

After thinking a while, I decided I could knock out all his ideas with some evil unicorns.

Here is the second.  Maybe once the prior unicorn charmed by a necromancer does, he raised it as a skeleton, and put another minion on top.

      Here are the WIP shots:

I magnetized the mount and rider.
I had a lot of fun with these, and definitely bittersweet to part with them!

      Thanks for looking.
