Dark Crystal Age of Resistance First Trailer

   Netflix has released the first trailer for the new Dark Crystal Prequel.  I think it looks really good.  They seem to have done a good job capturing the look and feel of the original:

I'm so ready for this to air.  The Dark Crystal has been this excited about a new show.

I wish I could get my hand on some of the original West End Games box sets.  They seem to be among the most rare models I've been trying to find.

I’ve seen pictures of those!  Would love to get them too, but could never afford the market value.  There’s always the one in a million yardsale  find I can hold out hope for!

I liked the original, although I understand it didn't do well... although it seems to have redeemed itself as far as cult value goes, considering it's getting a series nearly forty years after the original.

I'm not normally crazy about prequels, but I have to admit this looks pretty good.

I'm a little sad that's it yet another remake/copy/prequel/sequel since that's all we seem to see lately. 

 

But I'm mostly saying HECK YES DARK CRYSTAL. This looks absolutely gorgeous and I'm super excited for it. 

 

I'm also pretty amused that after watching the show, some folks will realize my questioning, "hmmm" sound has been a bad habit from copying Chamberlain's little whimpers all along.

I love Dark Crystal.

 

I also recall a time when (eg: Dark Crystal) Henson Company was known for making original work. This is... Not entirely that.

 

Of course, it is originally Henson product.

Thats funny, as I find I make that sound too sometimes when I'm skeptical about something.  Often followed by a  "Hmmm, Gelfling!" as it seems like the natural progression. 

 

It's interesting how a sound like that, and the Emperors laugh at the end of the latest Star Wars trailer, are such universally recognizable sounds, and can illicit such a nostalgic reaction.

Hugely excited for this. The Dark Crystal was a large part of my childhood. I watched the original a few weeks ago with my dad. To this day, if I am at a restaurant that features a buffet, I think of Skeksis if I see a table of patrons gorging themselves.

 

I have the Dark Crystal boardgame River Horse did a few years ago. Haven't had the courage to paint the four figures it came with, they MUST be perfectly painted!!

So I chatted this up to the fam today.  My middle daughter, who tends to be the most like me, said it looked "creepy af" (her words).  I guess I'm watching this along

Bribe her to watch an episode (or two), and see if she sticks around.
