So I chatted this up to the fam today.  My middle daughter, who tends to be the most like me, said it looked "creepy af" (her words).  I guess I'm watching this along

Has she seen the original movie? I mean, she's not wrong, the Skeksis are pretty dang creepy.

Hugely excited for this. The Dark Crystal was a large part of my childhood. I watched the original a few weeks ago with my dad. To this day, if I am at a restaurant that features a buffet, I think of Skeksis if I see a table of patrons gorging themselves.

I have the Dark Crystal boardgame River Horse did a few years ago. Haven't had the courage to paint the four figures it came with, they MUST be perfectly painted!!

Photo references, man. Photo references. And I am irked that while the Labyrinth game has spawned two expansions, the Dark Crystal gets no love.

I loved the original Dark Crystal as a kid... okay, and as an adult. And Labyrinth.

I suspect that this has something to do with my sense of humor and now D&D writing.

Needless to say, I am SO LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS! It can't end well. It just can't. Story POV. It is going to be beautiful misery and I will love all of it. Probably.

Well, this is embarrassing. I've never actually seen The Dark Crystal, or Labyrinth for that matter  I probably should go remedy that...

That trailer looks wonderful though, makes me feel less grumpy about my Netflix subscription going up this month.

Looking forward to this one! I need to rewatch DC, as it's been prob over 25 years since I've watched a VHS version.

I will admit, if not for free (ok it's part of my phone), Stranger Things & this, I think I would drop Netflix. I never watch it but the family does.

I showed my wife and teenagers DC a year or two ago. It was declared to be another one of those “weird movies of Dad’s”. I mean, come on! Classic here! Although, daughter did really enjoy Labyrinth.

Yes you should! ::D:   They both are Fantasy classics.  (Heck there was even a “ Babe with the power” T-shirt in Target earlier this year!)

I know Netflix has the original DC available for streaming currently.  Not sure about Labyrinth...

Jim Henson Company Muppet magic FTW!

With all the modern trends in cinematography and story telling, I'm almost surprised to see how much the trailer feels like the original. I guess the whole Star Wars Muppet Yoda vs CGI Yoda left the right impression.

As I side note, though I own the Dark Crystal DVD, I have never watched the movie. (I got a ton of unopened movies from when the HMV chain went out of business).
