As far as flying with paint in checked luggage I have done so many times.  I always had it in a paint case (one year one of the cases of classroom demo paint) in my suitcase.  I have had absolutely zero problems.  If you are paranoid, make sure all of the caps are on tight and maybe put it in a plastic bag if it leaks.

I'm stoopid and didn't realize EC was asking specifically about the process for class tickets.  Since I haven't actually taken a class before, I wanted to mention it so somebody who has done class tickets before can confirm you get them when you get your badge, or if there's something different you have to do.

I take mine in a Reaper paint case every year and have never had a problem.  My wife's bag with all the gel pens and coloring books is usually the one that gets searched
