What Happened to the Pathfinder Range of Paints?

Recommended Posts

I thought it was going to be released in the Spring, but now it seems to have disappeared.  Is it still going to be released?  If so, when?

i can’t seem to find anything on the Reaper site.  Any updates would be appreciated.

My recollection is that it'll first be available at PaizoCon.

I believe it is also the plan to give one half of the Paizo set to ReaperCon VIP attendees.

I do not know if it has been solicited for retail stores yet. I think products become available 60 days or so after retail solicitation.

So it's coming, and this year, but I don't think an exact date has yet been stated.

Reaper was working for a spring release but expected a fall release. It's now a fall release? When? Wren is right, an exact date for retail hasn't been announced.

I was one of the Paint and Take volunteers at PaizoCon and while we did have the Pathfinder paints there for people to try, none were for sale.

I've been wondering as well, since a lot of the info that went out originally said May 2019....

What Darsc said. I was there too, and there was some uncertainty up until shortly before PaizoCon (May 24-27) whether the paints would even be ready to demo there.

I can provide pictures of nearly all of them, though, to help tide people over until they're available to purchase. ^_^

Sorry they aren't the best, but I tried different light and background setups and this seemed to give pictures closest to the actual colors.

Flesh tones:

(Pharasma purple is right in the middle as a, well...purple purple, which is why it's in there twice. When I put it with the warms, it looked cool, and when I put it with the cools it looked warm! :wow:

(this is the only one we were provided with at the Paint and Take, though there are several others in the Pathfinder line).

And here's a group shot of them lined up on the promotional flyer page that came with the Bones 4 KS stuff (you can see all the empty metallic spots on the right):

EDIT: Here's a pic of the same flyer, sans paint. Note the slightly higher MSRP price of $3.99 per bottle:

Oh, as a total sidenote, I have renamed my bottle of 89522 Grindylow blue to @Guindyloo Blue; not just because of the name similarity, but also because it looks like a color she'd probably enjoy painting with. ::D:

 That is totally a colour that I'll enjoy painting with! Thank you for restoring it to its proper name, I'll forgive Reaper and Paizo for misspelling Guindyloo, I suppose. ::P:

Incidentally, it occurs to me that Grindylow may be why I have heard people insert an R into their pronunciation of my name from time to time.

Is this noticeably different from all of Reaper's other skin tone triads?

Thanks, but don't rush to do so on my account.  Not like I can pick them up tomorrow...

They fit so nicely too! It made my little OCD heart so very happy.

Luckily I have...this many flesh tones:

20190615_063606.thumb.jpg.db469f20cd449075432e8e91e010bdf6.jpg

So doing a color comparison wasn't difficult.

NOTE: The following pictures all lean heavily toward yellow, so go by my description more than the pics (the pics of the bottle tops are a bit more true).

Kellid Tan is really close to Fair shadow, just a bit lighter and a touch more yellow:

20190615_063317.thumb.jpg.900015715b885fee47e18b8d12ef2046.jpg

Taldan pink looks like it fits pretty nicely between Tanned highlight and Rosy skin as far as how light/dark it is, and how much brown/yellow/pink is in it:

20190615_063438.thumb.jpg.886edcdd928b0a149db1c68b2d62b77f.jpg

20190615_063450.thumb.jpg.613dbe889ee8e4f9c4a8674727b09538.jpg

Kyonin beige is pretty much just a slighly lighter version of Golden Highlight:

20190615_063530.thumb.jpg.886b1a2bd8a86ae67f80214cdab100c0.jpg

20190615_063537.thumb.jpg.fbabe153c1135e801744541e872e2c42.jpg

As a "triad", it's a nice sort of in-betweenish set. I don't know that I'd necessarily use all 3 together, but Kyonin beige could work for yellowish skin, Taldan pink for a slightly tanned warm skin, and Kellid tan for a generic pale skin.

Hope that helps!

Thanks so much.  I didn't realize at first that these weren't actually a triad.

I've come to rely heavily on the MSP skin tone triads for my figures. They now have such a variety that i don't even try to get creative and mix or use anything else - just straight out of the bottle (with a drop of water, of course) - shadow, mid and highlight.

On Reaper Live! they said the hold up was Pazio approval of the colors.  They thought they were close.
