Middara: Unintentional Malum

Recommended Posts

Not quite sure why I keep looking at boardgame Kickstarters, but I stumbled across this one that starts on 24th June.

It's for a reprint of the base game from their previous Kickstarter:-

And a pair of Expansions:-

Looks very JRPG influenced, which is what has me interested.

They've got a draft page up at the mo, with more info, playthrough videos and stuff:- https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/succubuspublishing/772262949?ref=854027&token=fd1cf2b1

I can vouch for the first print.  It's absolutely immense and wonderful.  Great minis, cards, etc.  They came through after some problems and 3 years past the original KS and delivered everything.

Edit:  Might have to go in on the Returning to the Portal pledge.

... So, components sound great. How's the game?

Boardgame has been well-received in BGG.

Combat still uses a dice-pool, but thanks for posting!

I bought and sold 3 copies.  Made enough profit to purchase everything for the reprint if I want to.  But that is another massive amount of content that I seriously doubt my friends and I would ever get through.

Can't vouch for it personally yet, but I've heard the gameplay's awesome too.

I am 22 sessions in (playing solo) and the gameplay is great. Customizing your characters with both skills and items is really fun and it has a narrative campaign whose writing is, as the kids say, "Anime AF". Standard fare if you are into old-school JRPGs. The quality of the miniatures is so-so (Panda Manufacturing is getting better, but still). Overall, I will be backing the second go round.

In November, I am launching a Kickstarter project for a new tabletop RPG product. The Gaming Stage is an alternative to the dedicated board game tables that have become so popular, but can be so hard to justify. These are units that can be pulled out to play and put away when done, or displayed proudly with the wall hanging kit. There are three standard versions. The first is the most portable, with a dry-erase printed playing surface. The second two have hinged lids to allow hand drawn maps to be inserted under an acrylic playing surface. All three have highly distressed wood, and forged steel hardware for an impressive fantasy-themed appearance. Multiple add-ons will be available to increase the versatility.

I'm a couple of days from the Kickstarter pre-launch page from going up. In the meantime, I have a project dedicated webpage with all of the features clearly sown. Check it out and let me know what you think.

Heard about this on Trapped Under Plastic.  Some of the sculpts look pretty interesting and look large scale so I will be curious to see what they cost.

      Launches Friday Oct 23.

The $185 / $205 six-set (two of each of the 3 map sets, with and without vinyl stickers) is the best price. Dungeon set, Frozen Waste set, and miscellaneous. I guess the ideal backer would be someone who has no 2D maps or 3D game tiles, plays RPG and Frostgrave, and has $200 to burn on maps.   Each dry-erase map set is 20 17"x22" maps, double-sided and removable. Removable means portable. Yes you're gonna need a bigger table.

I already have his original Book of Battle Mats, as well as Loke Battle Mat books and 3D dungeon tiles, so I'll pass on this one. I liked the maps and stickers, although a few thought the art was cartoony or something.
