Carfax
HI I'm a new player but I've been curious after seeing the tutorial videos on you tube I own the warlord rule book savage north I noticed the guy was using a cave man type army in place of a standard army my question is would the data cards stay the same or would they be different or custom? or is there an expanded list for like necromancers and alternative themed armies with more troop variants? For example instead of using Judas using a lich or for the elf faction making Varashia / queen of high elves ect ? Or have a lord that's not a named hero like basically just a generic lich or necromancer or elf queen or elf lord ect? Or is there an expanded list for other warlords not found in the rule book or army builder? I love the reaper miniature line I'm just hoping we don't have to be limited to specific heroes or anyone had tips or info for creating there own data cards or a resource for expanded lists I hope no one minds my question and I apologise if it seems strange just hoping for some clarification on how themed armies or data cards might work. EvilJames
You aren't bound by the official version of the miniature in the data card. You can proxy in any reaper mini you want as long as it's on the correct sized base for the data card. Your youtuber was likely just subbing in cavemen for whatever the card was supposed to be. You're always free to rename characters to fit the story your battles are trying to tell. You're almost expected too (You'll notice a lot of named characters are not labeled unique. ) I can't help you much with making custom data cards. I think there used to be a few people on the boards that did that, but they weren't cards with point values or anything to add to an army, they were monsters for special convention scenario games they were running. Carfax
Thanks so much Evil James for your speedy reply this really great to know I'm really looking forward to playing warlords and its nice to know there are nice people like you who are able to answer questions in a helpful way Also its good to know for scenario play and about the bases actually I was really wondering about that. Or if you had any good example of some theme armies you might be able to point me to? Thanks again I shared this post with my partner and she's really thrilled to check out the game too :)
EvilJames
I'm not sure what you mean by theme armies. If you mean army made entirely of proxies, I'm afraid I cant help you much there. If you are just referring to making are army list, then you can just check the various other parts of this subforum. Lots of people have posted their army lists over the years. You should also check out the unofficial army builder on another thread. It's super useful.
Shakandara
Froggy did an unseelie court army at some point (Moonscar Court was the name, IIRC). That was long ago, and I have no idea if any of the images survive on the forum of it. There have been other custom proxy armies too; Wowaboy used to field some really creative and nicely painted proxy armies. I recall facing a Razig list in tournament once from him that was filled with colonial british soldiers from the Chonoscope line; I'm not finding any pictures for that anymore either, however. I had plans to proxy a dwarven list with penguins at one point; I have the penguins for it, but they never made it into battle. ~v Edited August 2, 2019 by Shakandara
