Pre-Launch Bones 5 Excitement thread

Megan has been making noises about giant mammoth herders.... (Frost giant, I think?)

My Mantic Frost Giant is now standing vigil on her plotting and planning desk, right next to her Eberron Kallie. As is the unpainted Mammoth from Bones IV....

The Auld Grump

I had been thinking about using the Frost Giant Queen as a Mammoth Herder, with that staff she would look the part.

Abandoned the idea due to other projects.

I know it’s the wrong thread, however I’m sure people were on the edge of their seat and I didn’t want to leave them hanging. After 14 calendar days in the mail system to cover a 3 hour plane ride, my Bones have arrived!

Spoiler

Now the question is, do I start going through them myself, or wait the 6 hours or so for the rest of the family to be home first?

Pick one box, like the Fan Favorites to go through by yourself to satisfy your curiosity, and save the rest to go through with the family. ::):

And it looks like you won the last to receive their Bones 4 award!  (at least on the forums here) Congrats! ::P:

What have they ever done for you? Hmmm?

I’ve created this thread mostly as a place where I could collect all the screenshots that Reapers Ron and Ed have been teasing us with  on Reaper Live.

Please note this is completely unofficial and won’t be pinned. And also why I put it in the Randomness subforum.

Also when the super secret project is officially unveiled, whatever and whenever that may be, expect to see this thread locked.

First batch of pics:

Woah! That mammoth needs a SADDLE! And I need that model!

You know, the way it has half a saddle blanket seemingly suspended from nothing hanging on this side, I wonder if there is something that already is supposed to go on the back of this...   That side shield placement confuse me though...

This is nothing against you, PaganMegan, but could people in general maybe not quote huge posts full of pictures if they only want to comment on one?  This was particularly prevalent in the Reapercon thread last year and it just clogs up threads when people quote yards of pictures.  Please trim out what you need, many would appreciate it (you can even highlight and quote specific parts now as part of the board code).  Again, not singling you specifically, I just decided it was time to mention it.

Anyone who has had to go back into a thread like that to find information knows what I'm talking about, it looks like your browser is wonky but it's just the same picture-heavy post quoted 5 times with single-line replies.  That's a lot of digital real estate for one-liners.

I gotta say, I'm hype about those dragons. While Bones has been good about giving us MASSIVE JUMBO DRAGONS, I really haven't used any for play - but these  look to be properly Large. TBH they're kind of the biggest gap in the Bones line IMO - I use a lot of younger dragons, and 'dragon the size of a horse' is a mini I need often...

If the dragons are large-sized, or even Huge sized, instead of Gargantuan or Colossal, then that'll definitely be a plus for me. I have a Gargantuan mini for each Chromatic, and a Colossal for the only two Chromatics that become that size, but I only have a Black and a Green in Huge size class. I have all the Chromatics in Large from DDM back in the day, but ones that I've painted myself aren't going to be declined.

I’ve asked this in another thread, but how many people have noticed the animated Ogre Mini of the Month on the main page of Reapers online store?

I noticed it last week or so. It was an interesting flourish.

I concur with Buglips on this.  It's especially difficult for people on a mobile device.  For example, on my 10" tablet it takes 6 screen swipes to get through the first post with all the pictures, I can only imagine how difficult it is to navigate with a smartphone sized device.

I kind of suspect that she was posting from a mobile device... images are harder to remove as well as being a pain in the butt to see on a mobile device. (Part of why I try to never, ever, ever use the evil buggers....)

I will message Megan, and see if she will allow me to edit down to a more manageable size.

Wow... I almost sigged this as 'Dennis' rather than 'The Auld Grump' - my head is already posting the message....

The Auld Grump

I’ve already deleted the quote to just images of the mammoth.

On a phone, if you press the screen and hold, it should bring up some selection... I guess we'll call them parentheses... that you can move around to select text and pictures.  Then it will say "quote selection" or similar.  It's not quite as easy as on a pc, but it's not as bad as it used to be where you'd quote a post and then have to go trim out everything you didn't want.  Also, this actually doesn't work on my android, but it's an ancient dinosaur phone now and probably due for a trip to the tar pit.  I'm mostly still using it because it's a survivor and I've grown attached to it.  I ought to give it a name.

Anyway, where I must post from dino-phone and can't easily crop I just refer to the post or item in question.  Unless it's a dozen pages back, that will usually suffice.  Re:  GEM and mobile users browsing the site, I mostly do this from my wi-fi so I hadn't considered it - but trimming pics from quotes will also be nice and friendly for anyone browsing while roaming and not nibble away their data.  My data plan was apocalyptic last year, being not just roaming but international roaming, so the Reapercon thread quotes probably cost me a few coins.

It's just something for folks to keep in mind to help make things user-friendly for everybody.
