Not sure if this belongs here or under conversions but since I need help/feedback on the sculpting, I figured here was better. 

 

I am adding puffy sleeves to a figure and I am very much a novice when it comes to sculpting. I have been working on one and while it looks good to me, I need a second opinion. What do you guys think?

Looks like you're headed in the right direction! My instinct--though I'm no authority--would be deeper folds and more wrinkles, especially near the elbow. Are there any historical paintings or sculptures (or costume-rich movies!) featuring specific puffy sleeves you want?

Yeah folds and the elbow are what was bothering me about it. I looked for examples but her arm position is not as common as you might think. But from what I was seeing, more folds were definitely needed.

 

Unfortunately while I was trying to improve it, I wrecked it and had to strip the green stuff off. While I was looking at puffy sleeve examples I found good examples of my original sleeve plan, ones that are a little more structured and stiffer, less wrinkles. I also ended up finding a mini in my stash with a similar arm position and sleeve type. So attempt will happen tomorrow. Well, later today as it is after midnight here.

I would have to agree with Rigel, a reference for what kind of puffy sleeves you are going for would be helpful. My initial thought is the sleeves aren't following the arms underneath then, they are "floating" off of the arms. Of course they could be designed to do this but generally gravity causes large sleeves to directly touch the top of the arms and hang under the bottom of the arms. The "high points" of the sleeve, in other words the top of the arm, would be indistinguishable from the body underneath at this scale.

 

If I was sculpting large sleeves onto her arm I would literally be hitting the arm underneath with my tool! The only real raised areas for most of the top half of the arms would be the raised wrinkles. Even working digitally I will still sculpt the arm underneath the sleeve, then literally drag the mesh for the sleeve into the arms to make sure it still looks like there is a body under those clothes!

 

Wrinkles tend to gather in the armpits and elbows due to the way cloth naturally hangs, the cloth becoming wrinkled from repeated bending, or the presence of seams.

 

Looks like you got a pretty nice edge on the top of the shirt! Getting that panel of her shirt that flat is trickier than it looks!

@GHarris Thanks for the feedback! You nailed what was bothering me and what I noticed when looking for reference photos. Due to my mess up last night, I scraped the puffy sleeve idea and went back to more structured sleeves. With a few examples in hand, I finally got a sleeve that I am happy with. The light is reflecting weird off some areas but it’s what I was after. Added some cuffs that will either be shirt cuffs or part of gloves depending on how much hand work I need to do.

      this was a 45min conversion at reapercon hobby hijinx tables. Made from an angel, drider and flail snail, painted as hermit crab. 
       
      if I did another, it would be easier to paint the drider as a sea-elf instead of adding a new mini.   Not sure why I would want a second, but it was fun to make!

      I have a painting WIP running, and I think it is going decently well - I am keeping up on it, anyhow.
      I thought I would start a cumulative WIP on whatever random sculpting and terrain I do. It is a pretty big part of the hobby for me, and I enjoy it a lot, so I hope to keep it going on a personal level. While I am easily better at sculpting digitally (by a lot), I really don't enjoy doing it. At this point in my life, significant time spent in front of a computer is work, and I have enough of that to do. So, Ill post my ham fisted attempts to sculpt things for my personal collection below.
       
      So...I have been having some really long and tediously boring zoom meetings, and I have found that I can't both paint and maintain a CYA level of paying attention, but I can crudely sculpt with clay. rather than working on any of my projects that require focus, I thought I'd work on something that can be haphazard to keep it light through the process. I have been obsessive over plant monsters lately, so I thought I'd make a tendriculos. Big, forgiving, and fun - perfect!
      I had a marathon of meetings today, so I was able to jump right in and make some progress. Thus far all I have is an armature with a thin coating of polymer clay - but it's a start!

      Hello everyone, I'm mostly done with the second Ogre, I just need to do some touch ups. It's clubbing time, the Ogre way! This one is the 77454, Ogre Clubber sculpted by Bobby Jackson. I swapped the top of its club with that of the 77455, Ogre Smasher. I also added a skull at his waist belt on the left side.       Hello everyone, I'm currently working on an Ogre gang and completed the painting on this model last night. This is a 77455, Ogre Smasher sculpted by Bobby Jackson. I swapped the top of its club with that of the 77454, Ogre Clubber. I also added three more skulls at his waist belt. it was all painted with Reaper MSP paint.       Hello everyone, here is my converted Reaper Miniatures 01411, Harapan sculpted by Jason Wiebe. Back in 2005, this limited-edition model was produced to raising money after the Tsunami disasters in SE Asia. The funds collected were distributed to the Red Cross and Unicef.
       
      Nowadays, this mini is very hard to find and the molds were supposedly destroyed after production. I was lucky enough to find one and spent all my free time during the last two weeks converting, painting it and creating a base for it.
       
      I converted its weapon by replacing the blades with a cleaver and a tiger paw flail. You can see the original model on the last picture. The tiger paw is front paw of a 02817, Moor Hound. The tropical planted are plastic aquarium plants. I painted the blade as a damascus forged steel and added a blue/green sky and earth non-metallic metal SENMM effect on the metallic parts. I also added ceremonial painting on Harapan’s forehead.
