GURPS adventures ? worldbuilding

Recommended Posts

Hello,

This post is mainly for me to get my ideas out on an adventures/ building my world, that I want to write. Things maybe out out sorts, but sometimes that helps me get more organized. Any and all commits are welcome, but do not be offended if I do not use said suggestions. I am using the GURPS system, so I may drop an NPC or three with stats in here as well.

Adventure Idea:

In the town where the adventures start out in is a adventures guild hall. Adventuring parties are formed there and then said parties assemble and will work a job that the group picks. If the party can not agree on an adventure then their 'sponsor' chooses for them. (change sponsor to supervisor or something)

WT: A tale of lovers.

two of the contracts at the guild are to help find missing children. one is the son (17) of a wealthy merchant and the other is the daughter (15, just a few days? from 16, the legal age of marriage) of a poor farming family.  the idea is no matter which contract the party takes, they end up working both as the two kids are in love and have run off together as the merchants son has a arranged marriage that is close to being done. The party will track the missing child to the next village, maybe further? Maybe by the time they are found, the two are married??

How about: they track the young man to the next village where he has run off and married a girl there, leaving the party with the question of what happened to the poor village girl? (She was kidnapped by evil cultists, of course, and will be sacrificed tonight if they can't save her.)

Well I can not be sure they would pick the merchants son contract over the poor farmers contract, I mean odds are in that favor, but not sure. I had thought about making it two merchant families that hate each other, (Romeo and Juliet style), but it might be a tip off as to what is going on.

Decide who runs off and who gets kidnapped depending on which contract they take. (Magician's Force.)

So my GURPS plate just got more of a load on it. In discussing GURPS with my two youngest, I mentioned that I was trying to work up a Sci FI game. Then the youngest reinstalls Fallout 4 on the PS 4 and I mention I have a Fan Document for that, long story short, now I am prepping a Fantasy, Traveller, and a Fallout game...... Me and my big mouth.

On this day in 1804, Meriwether Lewis, William Clark and the rest of their party headed up the Missouri River on a government-sponsored mission to explore the land that had been acquired in the Louisiana Purchase the year before and find a water route to the Pacific Ocean.
And so began a multi-year adventure.

Is there anyone who might be interested  in a PBP 4e GURPS lite (rules light, no crazy math) portal horror/ mystery modern day adventure.
      1) Gurps 4e is published by Steve Jackson Games, and the free "lite" version of the rules is available online here.
      2) This world is adapted by me from the fiction of Ian Rogers with my own additions.
      3) Character creation rules
NO MAGIC OR SUPER POWERS or cinematic skills/abilities
100 points available up to 50 points in disadvantages and 5 quirks as well. If your character concept is disabled, then there's leeway to go over this, but needs discussion with me first
If you have 4e books or the character creator app, feel free to go for it. Otherwise I will post a list of templates and where they're located that I've vetted to guide you beyond the lite rules.
A skill at 12/13 is considered professional quality. higher gets you a better ability to handle tough situations and improve chance at a critical. Really high skills might get notoriety (could be good or bad).
      Useful guidance http://forums.sjgames.com/showthread.php?p=369148
Also this free pdf condensing skills info should be useful

      4) This is set in Toronto and Ontario Canada primarily. Your character doesn't need to be from there, you just need to have an idea of what you're doing there, and specifically to start, what you're doing in the PATH specifically (this will be how you are all introduced). After reading about the world basics, you will also need to think about any supernatural/ blacklands experience your character has had... if any, and if/how they were affected by it.
      The World Basics
I'm hoping to be able to do a few posts a week, but because I'm new to this, and have limited availability it might be slower than I want. I'm unsure about the number of players - this could work with only a few.
More later. Feel free to ask questions or express interest.
If you have and use a skill that will allow you to obtain info/ achieve goal to advance plot, that will happen. I won't make people roll until something happens or things end.

This site seems to have a decent character generator. There`s step-by-step at the top of the page, and it auto-calculates. Please print to pdf or printscreen or recopy.  so I can review. If you need a template, please let me know. Please set point maximum to 100 (it defaulted to 300 for me).

      Current Characters list:
      1)Magnus Albertson @Dilvish the Deliverer
      2)Sammy @Arkady
      3) Sam Travis @Corsair
      4)TBD @Chaoswolf
      5) Raoul @Colonel Kane

      6) Morgan Faustus @Kangaroorex
There will be a hard cap at 6 players. And maybe only 5 total. We're closing in on being able to start things.

It's 2 years in the making, and larger than Zelda: Link's Awakening, and still fits in your pocket!

There's still a few Arduventure edition Arduboy pledges left...
(The game will work on the Standard edition, also. but the KS exclusive eition looks good... )

This is the follow up to The Tomb of Yaegar. It assumes that your characters completed that adventure. However, if you want to use it by itself it would be easy enough for the players to find the Forgotten Temple. Unlike the previous adventure all stats will be done in the Labyrinth Lord rule set, but it is simple enough to convert it over to almost any other system. As with the previous adventure I will share this in several installments. It was written for my home brew world of Renascentia, but can easily be adapted to any setting. It is designed for 4-6 players of 1-3 levels, though if the players are level 1 you might want to adjust the number of monsters encountered and the final fight. In my game I use Reaper Bones Miniatures for all Player Characters and NPCs. I will note which minis were used. You are of course free to use this for your non-commercial use. If you do use it for anything though, please give me a nod.

      A general question of interest.

During ReaperCon, I was one of the lucky participants of Reaper Wolf's RPG sessions that starred this year's four factions.

One thing he mentioned was that the individual adventures (one per faction and one mashup, so five total) would be downloadable and available the Friday following the con.

Two and a half weeks later, I finally remind myself to download them. But... where are they? I can't seem to find them on the ReaperCon site, if that's where they are.

Since several of us forumites participated, I'm sure I'm not the only one wondering this.
