Not the latest but one of first redone ones with the rotary. I can post that later if you want.

I was mostly just teasing, but I appreciate your offer to help. I actually have one of the newer metal 'hawks, but it is currently still in a blister. I do not have the new GoAC plastic though. Cool to see it next to the old Ral Partha sculpt. Thanks for that!

Campaign just hit $1.25 million, so the Tukayyid map pack is ours!

Whoooo!  Wonder if there be a goal to get a free neoprene Tukayyid map.

...Says the one contemplating another $60 in pledge so he can just have all four, for, uhm, variety.

... ...Anyone else finding it slightly odd that in a clanner expansion.... I'm more excited about the inner sphere mechs?

I'm kinda serious too.  Don't get me wrong, I do like the clan mechs, just... I dunno.  And I'm not referring to classics like the Atlas, and it's "I mean business, my skull proves it", but some of the smaller, light to medium mechs...

Yes, there' s my baby, the Hunchback, but I'm thinking more the Jenner, the Raven, the Spider, and.. I'm forgetting one.  Panther is fun, that's for sure.

Then again, I literally grew up with the inner sphere designs*, the clan mechs came later.  Sure, they were potent as all sin, but they didn't quite have the same "ha ha ha ha ha can't hit me pew pew" that a Jenner has... :p ....Well,until you need to turn, and there's no cover.  Might run into a problem there in said Jenner..

*Not kidding, I was introduced to inner sphere designs at something like 7 or 8 years old, clans came a tad later for me.  I think I was in high school when I found out about the clans...

Woooooo!!!

I'm pretty sure it will take the 1.5m stretch goal to get me to really consider upgrading my pledge, but I am still excited.

Alright. Enough bashing my head against invisible walls. I'm trying to convince myself I need this, which I sort of have. I see three mechs in the starter box that I'd probably enjoy painting. A little steep to pay $50 to paint three plastic figures (roughly), but maybe I'd enjoy the game as well. But I'm not asking for help on that.

I'm very confused on the whole Star/Lance thing, and cannot seem to figure out what those are. I figure they're sets of mechs? I see from the Google doc that @Xiwo Xerase made (thanks for that) that are a lot of Stars/Lances. I went to their website and store, but cannot seem to find the pictures of what would be included. So, what am I missing? Is there a picture out there or just concept art behind backer-only updates? Haven't had time to see the videos, so maybe they're lurking in there?

Unit size.

The Star is the Clan arrangement; you get Clan-specific 'Mechs in Star packs, and you get five to a pack (I think they do show some of them?).

The Lance is the Inner Sphere arrangement, and you get Inner Sphere-specific 'Mechs, four to a pack. I'm fairly sure they /do/ show some of those packs, and they do tell you what's in all of them.

Because we have Comstar's units too now, those are six to a pack, because Comstar has to be different. ;p

With the maps being thrown in, we're up to Star Captain. If we actually get the 'doubled packs pick whichever they want' goal, we may go up to Bloodnamed! ... if not Star Colonel. We Shall See...

I just treat them like faction boxes from other minis games. Sylverthorne explained the main different, the number of figures. I believe all the lances will get a Salvage Box (aka a random fig) to balance them out.
The "problem" with the packs is they are mostly targeting long term fans of BT with the KS, so just putting the names in the sets is enough for them.  Its like if you play D&D and I was making a pack and said, it contains a bugbear, and owlbear, a troll and an anhkeg.  You immediately know what is in there, if not exactly what they will look like. But someone who's never played a fantasy RPG might have no idea.
Same when I see (for example) Comstar battle level II contains a Crockett, Flashman, Guillotine, Lancelot,  Crab and Mongoose.   Other than noting that that is some seriously inconstant naming (kind of all over the place for sources) and now having John Cleese in armor stuck in my head for the rest of the day, it really tells me nothing. But I'm sure most long term players not only know what they look like (more or less) but also at least their weight class and main weapons....kind of like how you know how tough that bugbear will be or that the anhkeg likes sandy soil.....

If you want to look and see what existing version look like, Iron Wind Miniatures has most if not all of them in their current metal forms on their web site. Catalyst will be redesigning them all for an updated look, but they should remain similar.

Me I'm not in a huge hurry to see what they all look like (cause then I'll want them) but I assume they will have pics of all the mechs in the pledge manager whenever it comes up.

Yeah, I will have to remember to check out Iron Wind then. Complete noob, so I can only assume that the figures they do show are in the same order as the description.

I'm pretty much in the same boat, except for a couple I recognize from random things, like looking for stuff on thingiverse.
I have started watching the original Battletech episodes on youtube....oh they have not aged well....

Sarna is a good resource.  If you want to see painted examples, try Camo Specs Online although a) it is slow and b) it will only show the current versions of the 'Mechs released by IWM and won't show what the new sculpted versions will look like.  (IWM has some of the same pictures, but only one per mini so you can't see it from any angles other than the chosen one.)
