Much as I'd love to stay in, because of the stuff going on at work I'm not going to take on any extra expenses, just in case.

Thankfully they'll be out in retail eventually, just means waiting longer.

Still 16 days left, in case things settled down.

The Starter Box and A Game of Armored Combat should both be available at local shops (or they can order them).

That's pretty much the plan, and the backup plan.  Worst case scenario, it's completely wait for retail.  Happiest case atm is the $95 pledge, although it would be $110 so I could get Coyote and Wolf stuff.

Because otherwise I'd have to go Jade Falcon, and be a bitter rival with hubby, who has laid claim to any Clan Wolf stuff I bring in... ::P:  Coyote is closer to fox anyways!

Whitewulf, you want Clan foxes? Here ya go!  https://www.sarna.net/wiki/Clan_Sea_Fox

Oooh neat.   Coyote does have the benefits of all the mysticism though ^_^  On the other paw, that's an awesome emblem...

Also, it seems someone mistook the last letter of my name for a cookie, and ate it again... ::P:

As for work, I suspect things will calm done soon enough, it's just the uncertainty has me working on increasing the size of my emergency fund as a higher priority than minis.  Either way, I'll wind up picking up the beginner box and main box soon enough I suspect.

Unit size.

The Star is the Clan arrangement; you get Clan-specific 'Mechs in Star packs, and you get five to a pack (I think they do show some of them?).

The Lance is the Inner Sphere arrangement, and you get Inner Sphere-specific 'Mechs, four to a pack. I'm fairly sure they /do/ show some of those packs, and they do tell you what's in all of them.

Because we have Comstar's units too now, those are six to a pack, because Comstar has to be different. ;p

With the maps being thrown in, we're up to Star Captain. If we actually get the 'doubled packs pick whichever they want' goal, we may go up to Bloodnamed! ... if not Star Colonel. We Shall See...

Just to clarify a point:

If your pledge lets you pick lance or star packs, you get a bonus salvage box with each lance pack. That way the total number of minis per choice stays consistent at five.

If you purchase a lance pack as a $20 add on, they are not going to toss in a salvage box to go with it. (This is why add-on star packs are more expensive.)

Throwing in Comstar does make things needlessly more complicated, but you get an extra 'bonus mech, so... cool?

Is there any reason to get the beginner box and the regular AGoAC box?  I'm actually considering Star Colonel if this thing gets to 1.5MM, but still haven't pledged.

I got the Starter to check out the figs and learn the beginner rules.

I'm getting the AGoAC box because more figs and more advanced rules.
And I'm impatient....
If you don't mind waiting for the new starter from the KS, you can add on the 10 minis from the Starter and AGoAC boxes for $40. (Inner Sphere Retaliation Add-on). If you want them.

Not knowing your background, I'll go with with "Maybe?"  If you're already familiar with the game, each box gives you plastic miniatures (2 in the beginners box, 8 in the AGoAC box), new (paper) maps, cardboard standees, and cardboard hex terrain (just tiles, really).  If you're not familiar with the game, you also get rules and such.

Note that both of these boxes are in print now so you may be able to get them at your FLGS.  (In fact, if you can, I highly recommend buying these from your FLGS rather than through the Kickstarter.  Buying them through your FLGS encourages them to stock these and other products.)

Something to consider: I don't think we've been told if the rulebook in the Clan Boxis a complete ruleset, or an expansion to the AGoAC rules. I wouldn't want you to be left high and dry with an expansion that requires a book you don't have to play.

My working assumption has been that it would probably be structured like an expansion, but I could be mistaken.

Okay, the Beginner Box has the Griffin and Wolverine in it for actual mechs. The wolverine is duplicated in the big box. So, in addition to the Wolverine, you get 7 other mechs. For a beginner I would recommend getting the new set as well because it gives out more maps as well as the expanded rule book. Also, you are breaking up the money you are spending if you budget your hobby funds. That would also let you get familiar with the IS mechs for when the Clanners arrive. You can then watch fleabay or used book sections for the complete rule books. That way, you can figure out what your play style is, it also lets you concentrate on the Clan mechs in the KS.

Okay, was just looking at the Pledges. If you get the IS starters through your local LGS you could go with the $95 pledge, using the add ons for 2 Clan stars. This gives you a full Clan Trinary of 15 mechs. Or a combined Trinary of 10 mechs and a Star of Elementals [common Clan practice too]. Meanwhile you can pick up a few more IS mechs one at a time to beef up those forces as you are learning the game.
