Are we talking about the same forums?  The BT forums aren't as nice as Reaper's (but whose are?) but I don't think the BT forums are that bad.

WOW I just saw the new 3D render of the Stormcrow/Ryoken, it looks great! I really hope that the rest of resculpts turn out so well.

Weren't they wiped out by  a continuity "oopsie" during the Word of Blake's 10 year temper tantrum?

I'm Weirdo on the KS and the Battletech forums.

 

As one of the mods over there, I'll admit that we've had issues with trolls and such in the past, but I feel it's much better now. These days, our issues are usually with newcomers who haven't internalized the rules yet, or those who take umbrage with the idea that when they agreed to follow forum rules during signup, they might actually be expected to follow said rules.

Hey, here is a really hysterical scenario to run. This is where the Intentional Skid rule came from when my players asked during this event I was running at a Con. It's called "Icecapades". The entire playing area is a glacier with some elevation changes. Any mech that walks must make a piloting skill roll +1, if you run +2, jump +4. Due to extreme cold you gain +5 cooling each turn. A deliberate skid on ice  doubles distance traveled. Straight line, always full distance. If you hit another mech, their piloting roll to dodge is a +2 to remain standing and then they have to roll a skid of at least 2 hexes determined by a D6 roll, 1-2 to left, 3-4 straight, 5-6 to the right. Mechs may not shoot while skidding, jumping or running.

I don't suppose you own a copy of the "Boreal Reach" map from the Solaris VII box, do you?

Yup, I have the map. That's where I got the idea. We ran it using miniature rules.

As someone who helped run a BT forum 20 years ago, somethings never change.

Well, this has prompted me to get going on a long overdue painting of nearly a Battalion's worth of mechs I have had sitting around unfinished for way too long. In my own defense, we have been worn out the last 4 years as our parents failed and we lost them all. We were their caregivers so gaming and other hobbies were stored. Now I am debating over stripping 2 more stars of mechs for repainting, based on what I will be doing with all the goodies from the KS.
