I actually quite enjoy Battletech's bewildering array of parade paint schemes.

It lends a lot of optional guidance and variety, even if "basic camo", or "individual paint scheme" is pretty much always an appropriate alternative.

Also, you can always take a basic scheme and dress it up. Gloss paint, adding silver or gold trim, etc.

Oh wow, there are a LOT of paint schemes in that guide that I like....  Even some of the Capellan ones too >.>;;;

Circinus Federation's Black Warriors, Clan Blood Spirit Blood Guard Keshik, Clan Fire Mandrill Kindraa Beyl-Grant, Clan Hell's Horses Alpha Keshik, Clan Hell's Horses Epsilon Galaxy, Clan Mongoose Shadow Galaxy (*jaw drops*), Clan Stone Lion Psi Galaxy, Draconis Combine Amatrasu, Draconis Combine Alshain Avengers, Black Omen isn't half bad, Crescent Hawks are actually rather neat looking, Stone Ponies...

Surprisingly, I seem to prefer Wolf's Dragoons looks over the Kell Hounds, at least if you go by the fact I completely and totally bypassed them when looking the first round >.>;;;;

Looks like I've a lot to think about, and narrow down o_O  Well, actually, not really, because, uhm...  I'm thinking three Inner Sphere setups now....  Alshain Avengers specifically mention not just any colour of orange, but BURNT orange alongside either white or gray....  Boom.  That's one, I think.  Crescent Hawks would be a second (even if they eventually wind up as part of the Kell Hounds)...  And then probably Kell Hounds as the third.

As for clanners...  Clan Coyote is an obvious one for me, but haven't quite figured out which pattern I'd want - Zeta and/or Delta Galaxies seems intriguing though - probably with a slight edge towards Zeta, with Delta's darker blue, and the darker grey from Alpha.  Why?  Zeta has an EPIC EMBLEM! :wub:  Clan Hell's Horses, yeah, Alpha Keshik, but I can almost guarantee I'd want to add in some of Epsilon Galaxy's pattern too...

Now to just figure out how I'd split things.  Clans @Corsair helped me out with earlier, so it'll be a trinary of Coyote, and a trinary for Hell's Horses (although they'll naturally have less mechs, but eh, they'll have a few tanks and ELEMENTALS OF DOOOOOM).  Inner Sphere... That's a bit of a tough call, since barebones it's four companies plus two lances that will be my estimated amount of mechs on hand...  I'm kind of thinking of going with a Battalion of Kell Hounds, one company of Crescent Hawks, and two lances of Alshain Avengers...  Hard to say.  Or I might just split it half and half between Kell Hounds and Alshain Avengers, arrrrgh.  Good thing I have a while to decide >.>;;;;;  Genyosha seem nice, but.... Boring to paint.  Also kind of contemplating splitting between Kell Hounds and Alshain Avengers..... Hmmmm.

Freebirth surat! How dare you call Trueborn warriors goofy! We respect the visions of the Novacats, the Necrosia quests of the Seekers of Goliath Scorpion, the dreams of Jade Falconers,the tantrums of the Ice Hellions,  the Lore of Clan Fire Mandrill...

Well,...

You may have a point...

Keeping in mind that Kerensky's own Clan is basically the Red Army, stars as organizational unit make perfect sense. They also tie in fine with the Tengrism of the Mongol Horde, and as for the mysticism - if you /really/ want to tell said Tengrists that there isn't more under the Great Canopy than the regular five senses can detect, I would advise availing yourself of a Fire Moth... ;)

Glad I could help!

Now if only I could decide whether or not to dedicate mechs to Crescent Hawks... *laughs nervously*  The more I think about it, the more that canon forces, uhm, uh.... I don't care as much about - they're my mechs, I'll paint them however I please.  If I do go ahead with such, I suspect the gold would be replaced with copper.  They're also one of those weird quasi-canon but not actually confirmed outright as canon groups...  That's also considered part of the Kell Hounds too, depending on where one looks...

Alshain Avengers is obvious as to why I'm choosing them - I love their colours, especially since you can go grey or white, so I'll go with something in between.

Going with those two would definitely give me both sides of the Invasion though, so there is that... (says the fox going with Clans that, uhm, uhh... Weren't part of the initial invading forces, lol)

One thing I looked at when deciding what units to go with, was if decals were available. Placed my order with Fighting Piranha for my Ghost Bears, Highlanders, Kell Hounds and Lyrans.

Seems all of the ones I'm looking at are there - Crescent Hawk's are hiding under mercenaries.

I'll have to think either way.  All of the ones I've narrowed it down to I definitely like their colours... Most I like their back story and fluff too.  Still debating about the Alshain Avengers though.

EDIT: I suspect, for me, it's easy enough to decide about the Alshain Avengers...  If I have no real attachment to them other than their looks, and their fluff aren't really doing anything for me...  Then there's no real point in trying to paint up such an army ^_^;;;;

Just over $100k to go, and we hit 48 hours... Oh, midnight my time, but eh :p  Still not quite certain about the UrbanMech but eh ^_^

...*looks up art*  okay, if it's anything even remotely like the MechWarrior Online art I can definitely get behind the idea... And I'm going to have to make sure I have enough for four of them (because I'm doing my math in lances :p)

Well, in preparation, I stripped the last of some Omnis getting repainted last night. Dry this AM so they got primed today. Looks like some I primed yesterday had some bad paint as it is still tacky. If it doesn't dry by later today, gonna have to strip them. Pitched the can I used [it had been here for a long time]. One thing I am VERY pleased with, is the new Shadowhawk I picked up took to rattle can primer very well. This will make painting the mechs coming in the KS much easier for their base coats.

Is it bad that I'm actually starting to get excited over the trashcan of doom, and how I'll be getting three of them? ^_^

have you considered painting fake wood slats, a cork and a metal ring on the body of the urban mech to make a bourbon mech? (I'm saying make one a barrel)
