Catalyst Game Labs: BattleTech Clan Invasion box set

Recommended Posts

As a BattleTech newbie (not sure how I missed out on it, likely our limited TV channels back then...growing up I got Battle of the Planets, Voltron and Robotech and that's about it) I've always found the lore and background fairly intimidating when I've looked at it in the past. So if they keep things a little simple for a while I'm ok with that  ::):

I did pick up the beginners box (as my new LFGS had that in stock) to check out the figs as much as anything, and I've asked them to bring in the bigger box. That will give me a good feel for their existing stuff and hopefully I can get through the rules....and maybe even play, if there are other locals buying.....

I would seriously suggest that you check in on the state of Catalyst's (CGL) current KS before deciding to back this one. Especially if you're outside of the US. Despite CGL saying that the US

FINALLY finished the first of my KS minis...

It's a kickstarter, there's always delays. That projected ship date of March 2020 for Wave 1 and such? As long as it ships at any point in 2020, it's on time as far as I'm concerned.   Besid

... it is possible, with some digging, to find episodes of the old cartoon on Youtube. Quality ain't fantastic, but.. most of it is there.

I was rather amused to find that whole sequence laid out in a scenario book later on.

Chase down a copy of the Blood of Kerensky trilogy; that'll tell you anything you never needed to know about the time frame, and IIRC, it's easy to find now.

FFS. I was going to say something clever about them having hit a million yesterday, and then the cat stepped on the keyboard and things went awry.

Okay, one of the great advantages of BT is that the basic rules have not changed since beginning. I am proud that I was a member of the demo team for many years and even have helped write a couple of the new rules [Hull down and controlled, deliberate skids] Once you get the basic rules, all you have to do is keep hit location and damage tables handy. The Griffin and Wolverine are two excellent mechs so get familiar with them. It doesn't matter what era you are running they have variants that can hold their own in any fight.

the short version of the background is pretty simple, it's all the details that muddy things up.

Humans spread out across the galaxy with FTL ships. The settled areas founded a central government of questionable design The Star League. The leader of which got assassinated. Things turned into a messy civil war. the civil war became a permanent break up into a bunch of warring states. Comstar (the interstellar phone company) declared neutrality and continued to operate a monopoly on FTL communications and became a weird cyborg cult.  A large force of the army went into self imposed exile rather than join in the civil war, they became the clans and their descendants came back centuries later to try and conquer earth and everything in the way. Which they did a credible job of thanks to a technological edge, a weird warrior culture, and genetic engineering. They were stopped, for a generation

So I'm thinking more and more about signing up for this one, but I'm curious...  Will they let you add more funds afterwards through the pledge manager?

Asking as I'm debating between Star Commander and Star Captain, but would like to be able to add in star and/or Lance packs (and maybe other things like dice and challenge coins) but also have to make sure other bills are still being paid...

If they hit the 1.25m mark, it might actually lower my pledge slightly, which is odd.

on the other hand, at 1.5m, “Star Colonel” gets more tempting, so who knows?

Yup, The change to be able to choose 4 different packs as opposed to two pairs will probably be what sways my choice of package.

I got here after they hit the million dollar mark and I'm a little confused what you are actually getting in each of the pledge levels and what all the options are.

Same.  It's... Hard to tell with a quick glance.

I ended up making lists? Someone else made spreadsheets.

I have.. Star Commander, Star Captain and Bloodnamed! - I haven't managed to get up the courage to tackle Star Colonel yet, let alone anything above that.

There is, in fact, a metric crap-ton of Stuff Available.

I am a huge battletech fan, but I have been hesitant to pledge for this because of the success it has had. Catalyst isn't exactly know for producing miniatures, and with some of their past financial issues I wonder how they will be able to handle the metric crap ton of stuff they are promising.

I also have not been following this thread or the kickstarter much at all, so if they have addressed my concerns please let me know.

At this point, we're off miniatures - they hit 'Comstar' and said, 'okay, no more minis, now we're doing other stuff', and other stuff appears to be - so far - opening up options and maps and other goodies for the not 'automatically give us all the things' levels.

I'm sort of dubious about the 'hey, we're going to stream things' levels, but, eh. I'm sure a lot of people are very google-eyed over that, and if it makes them happy, I am happy. ^^;

I am in as much for all the extra fluff bits as anything; I have little interest in the 'Mech side of things, to be honest. But all the people? Yah, gimme. And this is my favorite era of the setting.

And I'll paint anything you put in front of me. So, there's that.

Surprisingly, I got approval from hubby to go in....  Unsurprisingly, it's a difficult decision between Bloodnamed and Star Colonel.  The extra value of those four additional doubled star/lance packs (eight independently chosen ones if 1.5mil is hit) PLUS the neoprene mat is rather tough to decide between.  CAV being delayed somewhat is helping this, but oy, that's.... A tough call to make, given that it sure wouldn't hurt to have a nice haul in the box....

Wellcome to our biggest miniatures ever! Blood and Skulls ork rider is the largest and more detailed miniature in 70 mm scale that Nocturna models released in all of these years. This project is really monstruous and we need your help to fund it.
Take a look at all the figures in the campaign, all of them are in 70 mm scale. Blood and Skulls is 28 cm high!
        28 cm total size

I've bought everything this company has put out so far.  I'll probably pick up these two as well.  Really great figures based on classic artwork.

These two are both nude, so I can't show pictures here!

"The muses" is a range of miniatures offered by Golem Miniatures.
These 80 mm scale figures, in limited edition, will all come from realistic and oriental paintings of great painters of the nineteenth, a period that we greatly love.
During the fourth campaign "The muses", we had suggested that you submit ideas for the next muses. A vote had then been put in place to decide between the 27 muses that you had selected.
One muse dominated this vote: "La boîte à bijoux" painted by Guillaume Seignac.
To accompany it, a second muse has been chosen on the same theme: "human skin on animal skin". You will discover it below, hoping she inspires you! :)

During the third Muses campaign, we produced the magnificent Lady Godiva painted by John Collier, a famous English painter and one of the founders of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters.
Here is another of his works: "Lilith" painted in 1889.
Lilith is a mythical Hebrew and Biblical figure (Adam's first wife), whom some see as the very first portrayal of feminism in history.

      Story
I'm Adam Sadler, senior game designer at Blacklist Games, and I love miniatures. They are what got my brother Brady and me into the hobby back when we were teenagers. Whether we’re using them in roleplaying games, board games, or tabletop miniatures games, we love collecting, assembling, painting, and playing with them. While Blacklist Games has published several of our games that feature miniatures, they saw our passion could be used for the creation of a new division that would focus solely on miniatures and allow for company growth in parallel with creating great board games. With everyone at the company excited about the possibility of this new division, here we are to share it with you!
Blacklist Miniatures will focus entirely on producing high quality, highly detailed, pre-assembled plastic miniatures to be used in any type of game. Blacklist Miniatures: Fantasy Series 1, our first miniatures line, is not only a celebration of our love for miniatures, but also of all things fantasy.
With your support, this campaign will not only bring this project to life, but also open the door to other lines of miniatures in various genres and even new games to utilize them!

First time posting a KS thread.  Tribality is releasing a companion book to their previous KS "Seas of Vodari."  I thoroughly enjoyed the previous book and have been looking forward to this one.
As this is the first time I'm posting a KS thread, please feel free to let me know if I'm doing anything wrong.

I think that's enough for context.  The rest can be found on the KS page.
