Fantastic stuff.

Seriously, this makes me want to completely redo the bases and turtle shields on all my lizardmen. (And I mean that in the best way...so inspiring!)

Really, really nice work!

Mounting the Lizard Lads on those BEAUTIFUL bases really does complete them. The Group Portrait is WONDROUS to behold. VERY WELL DONE!

You may have noticed that basing has a certain charm all its own; AND it is highly addictive.

Thank you everyone. It is true that completing the base makes the models even more attractive. I am happy to have taken the time to create these muddy water effect. I first painted the muddy surface, I fixed the grass in place with super glue and painted on dry glue. Then I applied two realistic layers of Realistic Water, giving the first layer 12 hours to harden before applying the last layer.

Very good, everything on those minis is so realistic! How did you make the tall grass?

The tall grass is a product from the company Woodland Scenics, SKU: FG173 Field Grass Light Green. Have a look at the video here, or Youtube Model Realistic Field Grass Woodland Scenics Model Scenery. I make small clumps one at a time and use super glue because it dries faster. They also have video on Realistic Water. In fact, I think they have videos on how to use all their product.

I love these! I'll always upvote a good swampy base, having made several myself, and I really like yours. Water Effects is an awesome product when you understand what it can do!

Your figs would look great fighting next to mine (the old TSR metal sculpts from Ral Partha). One thing I'll also point out is your excellent painted box turtle shield. I have a similar shield on some frog men, but no way it looks as great as yours does.

Nice work!

The second of the superdeformed Chibi hero minis from the Bones 4 core set that I have painted, here comes Arnise the Elf Barbarian.
      Kissed by fire.

I have no idea if she actually is meant to be a barbarian or not.

Getting that much skin smooth is not an easy task, especially not by drybrushing. ...oh damn I forgot the freckles!

      Same height, different scale.

      25mm integral, sculpted base
should be available from reapermini.com some time in the future

A bit of a departure for me today. Chibi, a style formerly known as Superdeformed before Anime became popular in the western hemisphere.

I am not particularily fond of Chibi; that superdeformed cutesy manga look that has insidiously permeated the pop culture of today. Sigh. What is the world coming to?

Now they also have infiltrated my beloved Bones...

During the Bones 4 kickstarter campaign, they offered chibi versions of some of their existing minis as free additions to the core set as social stretch goals, adding them one by one as their target numbers for facebooks shares, retweets, tagging pictures or other interactions on social medias were met.

The full six chibi miniatures did end up In the Bones 4 core set. As I am sworn to do the entire Bones 4 core set, I am honour bound to paint them all eventually...gah!

So...I painted the chibi Sophie for starters.

Sophie the succubus is the Reaper Mascot of more than 20 years, and versions of her have beed used for promotions and to mark special occasions since way back when. She has had figures in every Bones kickstarter. In Bones 4 she had this chibi and also a normally scaled mini.
I went for the classic red devil look, with the opaque but shiny black eyes that I find most fitting for devils and their ilk.

Is it cheating to do the eyes in gloss black?

ARRGH! A giant-headed devil woman! She must be put to the sword!

For use in a D&D 5E game I'm playing in, this is my lizardfolk ranger, Suresh.

I really love Gene's lizardfolk sculpts, and I like that they're in Bones, because that makes them cheap enough to be plentiful and very easy to customize. Obviously modified from the original "spearman:" removed spear, repositioned arms, added axe and shield, added lizard crest.

The shield and mud were both made with Happy Seppuku (R.I.P.) stamps; the plants, crest and shield straps were handmade from greenstuff; the axe is from a Kingdom Death: Monster phoenix weapon sprue.

Hi everyone, it's an Orcish Weekend. Here is 14270, Dantral the half-Orc, Reven Captain sculpted by Gene Van Horne.
This model is from the Warlord line and part of the Reven faction. I painted it with Reaper's MSP acrylic paint and ink.

Well, the story's seven or eight years in the making, but we finally got married.

Now we just need to get Gene Van Horne to sculpt a bride and groom mouseling. Or a zombie bride and groom mouseling. Or a bride and groom mouseling with chainsaws...
