2019 ReaperCon Forumite Bingo Signup

Recommended Posts

Hey all! Time for the 2019 ReaperCon Forumite Bingo! So, those of you who were on the cards previously, or got a card last year know how the game works, so you can skip the next paragraph.

What is Forumite Bingo? It's a convention game I came up that is generally well received so I will do it again this year. The game is just like what a bingo game would be, but rather than calling out numbers to fill your card, you must go around and introduce yourself to members of the forum who are on your card. Say hi to them, and you can cross their box off. Once you've made "bingo", return to me for your Bingo ribbon. Blackout isn't required, but several people did it for the grins, and this year there will be a ribbon for doing that. And there's nothing to 'prove' you met those who you have said you have, just the honor system. You only punish yourself by cheating yourself out of meeting wonderful people.

Each year there are more volunteers than spaces, so not every one was on every card, and hopefully there will be enough volunteers again this year. It made for a good variety. So, this thread is not for signing up to receive a card to play. This is a signup for people who are willing to be on a card. The cards will be freely handed out at the convention. Just come find me. Be aware, volunteering to be on the card will mean that complete strangers will be coming up to meet you, and they may not be actually signed up and be on this forum. That happens more often than I thought it would each year. If that makes you uncomfortable, then reconsider volunteering.

So, the ground rules:

  1. I exclude the Reaper peeps since they are all pretty accessible. The game's purpose is to meet the forum members. I will continue that. Sorry peeps, we love ya, but I feel that's best.
  2. The free square in the middle will be me, since everybody has to meet me to get the card it seems the fairest way.
  3. You must be going to ReaperCon to be on the card please! And if possible, the full Thursday to Saturday at least. It's unfair to those whose card you are on if you don't show, or are a Saturday only person. I will not exclude you if you are a Saturday only (or similar) limited attendee. However, people who have you on their cards will get to cross you off without meeting you if you aren't there when they need you for bingo.
  4. By replying with the information below, you are giving your permission to use the picture provided and your name provided, and to be inundated with people introducing themselves to you.
  5. Once I've printed the cards (much closer to the con than I want), they are set in stone. I can't remove people from the cards, and they're a bit pricey to just toss. Plans change, life happens, and if you become a no-show, you simply become a gimme square and are crossed off automatically by those who need your square. It already happened once and well, it will probably happen again. We'll just roll along in those cases.
  6. Signups will be open from now until August 17th. That gives me a mere two weeks to randomize the cards and have them printed on card stock. If a mod would auto-lock this thread on that date, that would be appreciated. Once the thread is locked, no more volunteers will be accepted.
  7. One does not need to be very active on these forums to be on the card, but it helps people to recognize you. I will not turn away anybody that isn't very active if they really want to be on the card.
  8. If there's a question about any of these numbered questions, please quote the text since the numbering is automatic and I can't control it if there's an insertion.
  9. I will update these rules as questions and issues come up.

All ready to sign up? Good! Here's what you need to do. Reply to this thread with:

  1. The name you want to use. I prefer your forum handle, so people might have some idea of who you are. They can always write your real name across the square as a way of crossing you off, but it's up to you what name to have on the card.
  2. What picture you wish to use for your square. Again, I prefer your forum picture, but if you are someone who changes it often, I might grab one that isn't current so having you explicitly give me one helps.
  3. What days you will be at ReaperCon. I'll put the days you won't be there on the square, and this will help us know if your are there that day or not. I'm only using Thursday thru Saturday, with Wednesday as a simple bonus day.

This is optional, but if you could also send a recent picture of your actual self via PM to me if I don't have one already or your appearance has shifted drastically, I'd appreciate it. Something like a full on face shot, without costume. I have my ReaperDex/"cheat sheet" of sorts on my phone to help myself remember who is who. This way I can help direct people to those members they're still needing to collect. My brain isn't wired to put names to faces easily, and being tired from the Con won't help that. Having something I can use to point the way will help. Again, this is optional.

I think that's it for now. See you all in a month!

Forum Pic (I found last year's button, so you don't need to make me a new one -- if you trust that I will still be able to find the button in three-ish weeks and will remember to bring it. Hmmm. )

Wednesday to Sunday. We might have to leave early on Sunday to get back to Denver in time to see our son off to Basic Training. But we'll be there at least until noon, because I have a class that ends then.

And since I don't mind people seeing my actual face:

Please sign up both Buglips and myself. Our forum names and forum pics don’t change. We will be there all of the days. Our real faces haven’t changed as far as I know but let me know if you need another real people picture of us.

Forum name and current avatar picture please! I'll be there every day. My avatar is different from the one I had last year, so I'll send you a copy in a couple days (once I have access to my computer again).

My face is the same as it was every previous year, but I can send you a pic specifically if you'd like. Additionally, I'll be dressed up as Wild West Sophie on Friday and Saturday (complete with feather wings!)

Huzzah!

Can I still be in this? I'll be there Saturday on! (I get in Friday night). Avatar picture please. And forum name!

I'm not gonna be in any classes so people should be able to find me in the main room nearly the entire time I'm there.

I'll be wearing my antlers the whole time so it should be easy to find me.

I'm happy to be back on it after I wasn't sure if I'd be at the con last year!

Updated to my old forum picture and goodness, they really limit the size on those now....

We are very excited to be able to come back and participate at ReaperCon again this year!
There are a ton of new releases that will be in-stock at the show and a couple of other special items.

Bombshell Miniatures presents the 2021 Golden Maelee Award. This is a Sponsored Award section of the annual Reaper Master Series Open Painting Contest. All entries will be awarded a Gold, Silver, or Bronze Bombshell Dog Tag depending on the level of painting and presentation of each entry. The brand new, larger, Golden Maelee trophies will be awarded to the top three paint jobs (Gold, Silver, and Bronze) depending on the number of entries.

Entries will need to feature at least one or more Bombshell Miniatures as the prominent subject. This can be anything from Babes, Sidekicks, KritterKins, to robots, or busts. Each entry will be judged on its own merit of painting execution, presentation, and skill.

Entries from artists who have been professionally commissioned by Bombshell Miniatures are ineligible for the Golden Maelee Trophy at this time, they may still receive Dog Tag awards.

      BADGE RIBBONS
We have some new ribbons. Come by our booth and receive our Bombshell ribbon for your visit.
You may receive one of the other themed ribbons depending on your purchase.

      THE RESIN VAT
This year we will be offering seconds and mis-cast resin parts for sale by weight. Just scoop out what you want and we'll weigh it at check-out.
Although these castings didn't pass muster, you may find a gem that is just right for that conversion or terrain project down the line.

      COUNTERBLAST FOR SAVAGE WORLDS
Over the past year we have been working on creating a setting book of our Counterblast game for the Savage Worlds RPG.
Come by our booth and get the details to sit in on a couple of impromptu RPG preview sessions during the con.
There may even be freebies involved!

We are super excited to visit with all of you again and we're looking forward to see what you've been painting!

Hey its buc. I have run games of Rangers of Shadowdeep at Reapercon and the Reaper online conventions. Is there enough interest for me to run Rangers of Shadowdeep at Reapercon in person this year? Would it be better to put my effort into Stargrave and or Frostgrave?

I was considering running a game at Reapercon this year (assuming it happens). Is there interest in Stargrave as a convention event? Are other people planning on running the game at the convention?

If you are still waiting on your exchange mini, look at your own risk..sadly my photo skills are lacking in catching all the contrast he has..

This one was for a facebook competition about color. The rules were, basically, don't worry about anything else but color. Do something different with color. I started with the idea of a dress palette of blue, teal, purple, and magenta. Once I had those colors in place, it was a matter of incorporating them in different areas of the model. I went with cotton candy roses and a galaxy print on the wings. The galaxy was a matter of stippling the dress colors (plus a bit of white) back and forth until the effect was convincing. Then I masked the body of the model and flicked a stiff brush at the wings to make star patterns. I then went back to the dress colors and stippling to blend them in a bit. This was a blast to paint, because I've never really done anything like this before.
