I painted it intact.  I didn't want to take the chance of breaking off any of the legs, since it is Bones Black they are stiff.

What I find very visually interesting is how the lines of the base are blurry, but the figure is sharp.  It tends to force my eyes to keep refocusing on the spider, even when I consciously try to inspect the base.  That’s a really cool effect.  Someone with an art background might be able to tell us if that is a named technique or phenomenon....

I think this came out really well.

Jumping in here with my first post of miniatures! I've been painting for over 25 years, and once upon a time I did it competitively, but nowadays I prefer to stick to a straightforward tabletop quality because I can paint a lot more a lot faster. I have a large backlog of stuff to catch up on.

These cavemen are from the Lost Valley expansion from the Bones 4 Kickstarter. I cut off their integral bases and put them on Reaper's 1" round gaming bases, because I want all of the bases for my Lost Valley stuff to match.

"Rulers of Hell", from Bones 4. As usual, the blacksmith is here for scale.

Presenting a pair of Deep Gnome heroes (I'm calling them Harold and Alice) from Reaper.

I got these to see what the Bones Black material was like on smaller minis (I was quite impressed), and while some parts could've gone better (One day I'll learn how to highlight dark blue) they were a lot of fun to paint up.

As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.

Finally finished something for myself - woohoo! One of the set of Rocky baby dragons from Bones IV.  Went with a red scheme on this one.  Not going to win any awards with all the mold lines I missed!  Was supposed to be a quick speed paint, and yeah, that didn't happen.  Anyway, though he turned out pretty good, although the pictures don't show the highlights on the red.  Tried three different set-ups and still looks flat here.    Ah well.
