curious - what was the green skin undertone for?  (hadn't seen the technique/approach prior)

It helps with the shadows and look of translucency to the skin, by basing in the complimentary color.  A bit of a call back to an old masters method called "Verdaccio".  If you make it to Reapercon I know Shoshie Bauer, who is an instructor this year, can talk it through in detail.

@SamuraiJack, she's looking

g great, btw

      Not sure what her proper title is, considering there are something like 6 different maelee minis. I will be painting her up as Ashriel 'Ashes', one of my favorite personal characters. She's been cleaned up now. Going to try to paint her up to the best of my ability.

      Critic and criticism very much desired during this thread. Please don't spare my feelings on her.

      This year's Certificate after last year's bronze at reapercon has me frustrated and I need to get a Silver next year (a gold would be amazing, but I don't think my abilities will be refined enough to have 0 mistakes).

      So I decided I needed a Bombshell Dog tag. So I went and dug out the only Bombshell model in my collection - the Morihalda bust. Getting her ready for reapercon will be a challenge, but after tonight, I think I'm up for it.

      I'm really happy with her skin on her face and chest. Not sure what to do about the furry ears, though.

      It is written in the Book of Rites that jade is more precious and nobler than gemstones. Confucius said to Zi Gong that 'nowhere would people not cherish jade, because they respect and admire virtue.' This is wisdom.
      And is it not also written by sages of later days that "It's not easy being green"?
      Point is, this Foo Dog was not easy to paint, but I think it's worth it. Took advice from http://theminiaturespage.com/workbench/149837/ on how to get the semi-translucent effects. I don't think I succeeded as well as Zaphod there did, but there are a lot of little fiddly curlicues on the mane. And a good layer of 'Ardcoat also helps.

      Appearing with the Foo Dog is one of Bombshell's Sidekicks: Ping the Panda. Bamboo can be used for smacking as well as snacking.

      And here's some more Ping:

      A new kickstarter project from Kev White:

      Don't think I shall be backing this myself as I don't do much that is bigger than 54mm.

      This seems to be happening off Kev's own bat and I don't think Hasslefree is involved. Whether that is a good thing or not I leave to your own judgement.

      A lovely sculpt from Bombshell, Mi-Sher is billed as a Mongolian princess. I had a lot of fun with her dress.

      This post seems as good as any for a pair of Chinese Pirates I got years ago from Eureka. They both have a pudao or glaive. They were among my first forays into freehand back in the day--the one with the hat has a silver loong dragon on his back, and the hatless one, a crane.
