Nah. Too forced and there isn't motivation for using that on him. Unfortunately, I'm again in the situation of "I have to think evil things" to put forth a story. I need to give him a b***h to rescue! But that means putting a dog in a situation to be rescued. 

I wish they'd chosen to go on the cheese farm adventure next!

Goats are good for hazard reduction - they eat anything up to about 6' above the ground - much safer than other methods...

 

But yes, the only way to stop goats eating what you don't want them to eat is to keep them away from it...

Having worked in education, I will remain silent, as if I voice my opinion it will get this entire thread booted to beekeepers and believe you me, I have learned my place in this world. 

 

I hope everyone has gotten their coffee and working on a fine fall day. I have taken my meds for my sickness and now have to reload my pill boxes for the next two week for the life meds. I have to go to work tonight then get up and work in the morning.  Laundry needs done again and house needs somewhat picked up. 

 

 

My sympathies.  If you stick it out the retirement benefits are usually pretty good but other than that, Teacher is probably one of the worst jobs out there 

 

Coffee was gotten today so I am on top of the world.  Three crises averted, 4 meetings attended, 2 political hot potatoes defused.  Its been a busy morning

key word there is WORKED, past tense.  I was a paraeducator,,,, even worse than a Teacher. less pay and you need to know every subject not just the one being taught and because you are not a full fledge Teacher kids do not think they have to mind you.

Last night I learned how imprtant having a big city map is with younger players.

 

Suddenly they wanted to visit ALL THE PLACES!

 

I may need to divvy up notice boards by location as well as level.

No matter which country you're from, I think schools should teach the following basic skills.

Stuff that's actually someone everyone should know and it would prepare our offspring so much better for real life.

 

• Basic cooking
• Basic cleaning
• How to do taxes
• Basic rights of being a tennant or homeowner
• What it means when you use a creditcard / go into debt. ( no! using creditcard B to pay off creditcard A is not a sound idea)
• Basic book keeping / how to spend your salary taking monthly stuff like rent and groceries into account.
• Driving a car
• Basic sexual education ( no, what you saw on the internet is probably not what your partner wants!)
• The realistic side of getting a kitten/puppy/baby! ( No it's not a toy and yes they will take up a lot of your time and you should commit to them totally)
• How to open a bank account
• How to protect yourself from spam/phishing and identity fraud
• How to maintain your house/appartment/room ( doing small repairs)
• How to take no for an answer and how to deal with critique.
• Basic personal Hygiene.

I think we all could think of more.

These are all basic skills that lots of kids have to figure out for themselves.

Parents should teach (most) of this, but not everyone has the time and lots of people haven't figured out some of this for themselves.

 

I think if schools were given the budget to teach this, our young would be so much better prepared for real life.

 

 

 

The only other thing I think needs to go on there is basic sewing/mending.

The number of people I know who can't sew on a button or take up their own pants is SAD!

 

I know for me (and many of you I'm sure)

Basic cooking, sewing & cleaning were covered at home (we had chores we were expected to do, including one night of cooking dinner for the family per week, starting from a reasonably young age).

Pets - learned by doing, and that included the mucky side of things (and as an older sibling I WAS expected to help with the littles)

Basic book keeping & maintaining a home were taught by my parents as well, mainly through example.

Person hygiene - you knew you hadn't done something right when Mum looked at you then grabbed a facecloth and started scrubbing.

Siblings are good at teaching you how to deal with NO.

 

But many people don't get taught them at all.  And even if you do get taught at home, different people do things different ways so its always worth getting a refresher.
