Speed painting NPCs

I'm running an adventure. I'm running an adventure that starts with a ball. A ball full of NPCs. Half are important, half die in the first few sessions. How to keep my players from distinguishing?

 

Paint them all. Aaaaall of them. I have kept myself to less than 3 hours per mini.

 

First, High Strategos Maxillar Pythareus.

 

 

 

He's #77200 Sir Conlan

 

The blue and green, while visually dull, will be a recurring theme among the NPCs. The kingdom's heraldry is a gold crown and white lion over a blue and green field.

She's #77203 Alastriel

 

The same green and blue theme here.

The Countess Abrielle Pace

 

 

She's #2 in the Bones 4 core set image, formerly Nemesra, Dancing Girl #03767.

 

Finally something that wasn't green or blue. She has art in the adventure book so you know she's going to die the first session

And of course the pic of her butt looks better than the one of her front.

 

She's #146 from the Bones 4 core set. 

 

Definitely a major NPC. She's attempting a political thing in the kingdom of Taldor, a thing that kicks off the whole adventure path.

Yeah, pretty much. You have some inkling of my pain then, with the gigantic pile of NPCs called for. I don't want to have just the Princess painted up because she's guaranteed to survive the first scene. I want to provide the same level of immersion that I've always managed. I want [redacted character]'s [redacted] to be memorable, for multiple definitions of [redacted character] and [redacted].

 

To be honest, I expect by the time this adventure path is over I'll have a painted figure for every single noble in Taldor.

 

More NPCs will be posted as they're finished. I have a few weeks before the first session.

I used the same red/pink here as on Princess Eutropia for a reason. It's not really a spoiler, it's open knowledge that Lady Morilla is one of the Princess's staunchest allies.

 

A simple speed paint. Circumstances dictated a simple speed paint.

He's #77290 Mousling Druid. The beekeeper disavows any and all knowledge of the druid's antics.

 

Like most villains he has some grandeous names for himself. Hierophant of the Arc, Archduke of Tangancies, various other mathematical titles not normally attributed to a big rat.

I wouldn't have thought of using a Mouseling mini as Diago. Then again... I wasn't really thinking of using anything but a standard dire rat mini..

Duke Leonard Centimus

 

 

 

He's #148 in the Bones 4 core set.

 

He's one of the few NPCs with art in the adventure book, probably because getting to draw a pudgy half elf is such a rare thing

 

I did not manage to own or find a suitable mini that also had the Duke's pimped-out wheelchair. Unfortunate. A steampunk wheelchair mini would be an interesting and welcomed addition to any fantasy, Weird World, weird west, or pseudofuturistic setting. Maybe a spider-like crawly chair...
