I wondered what had become of all the Sir Forscales we painted. Nice to see them again.

Indeed! I recognized mine immediately, the one with the orange and white polearm (it's a shame that the attached string and blade broke off); and the one with the "$" dollar sign sword.

Found those on a tray on the top shelf outside the ReaperLive broadcast room--pretty sure they are just sitting up there totally forgotten. Helps if you are 6'5 and your world is dusty shelves and dandruff.  Wonder how long they will stay there now that they've been "found"....lol

Really loved the sheer variety of color choices, patterns and clever results from what is admittedly not the fanciest of sculpts, albeit ubiquitous to Reaper Kickstarters. Just goes to show what can be done with technique...

I see you got my class examples and my high-tech transporter. ::P:

Wish I had been there to talk (or hadn't been distracted if I was there; it's probably about 50/50).

I wish you had been around too; I wasn't able to get into your class, but I was really taken aback by the technique on those transparents. I have a handful of those and hadn't figured out what to do with them; I've taken another look after seeing your examples. Beautiful results.

You're very kind to say so.

If Ron lets me, I'll teach the class again next year, hopefully with a bit more experience. Badger was kind enough to give me a set of Ghost Tints paints, so I'll have those for next year's class, which will give me a bit more flexibility.

I want to see what I can do with some of the WizKids figures that have transparent spell effects; I think those might be interesting.

And you're welcome to look me up and talk technique whenever, of course.

Okay I'll bite--what exactly was the deal with the Forscales? was this a paint competition, a forum challenge?

sort of both?

people on the forums were invited to paint up Sir Forscale in a variety of ways and send them to reaper.  They were then used forescale in one of hte kickstarters -

I think it was bones2  -

In Bones 3   there was also a "Tale of Sir Forescale" where he visited all the monsters as they were produced - showing off with the finished versions in a series of KS updates.   such as this

I only painted mine after the competition.  which is fine, I use him anytime I want to take provide scale for something I've painted/assembled.  I'm glad I still have him.
