A structural engineer I'm not but I do have experience with dropping things .  if I drop my badger warrior from the tabletop to a concrete floor there is some bending of the limbs and I get an unfortunate amount of paint chipping on the limb that hit the floor as well as where the bend in the metal occurred.  My love for metal it purely a textural thing.  I feel like I am getting a better value with a metal mini, it just has more substance!

 

on the badger mage, when I dropped him the staff hit first and didn't break and the only paint that was scuffed was where the mini actually made contact with the concrete.  This is not to say you cant break them but the fact that they are lighter than the metal and somewhat springier tends to keep massive damage at bay.  That said, if you throw a Warhammer resin miniature at a wall in fury it will shatter all over the place (a fellow player did not like the results of his psycher attack!)

 

Basically:  resin tends to be more resilient until you hit the breaking point, but when you hit that point the damage tends to be much more catastrophic than with a metal mini

Yes, that wasn't a particularly well formed question. The implied question, given that Oathsworn is using some presumably consistent resin formulation for figures of a certain size, is whether my badger likely to shatter when it gets knocked off my three foot tall wargaming table onto my hardwood floor.  Unfortunately, that points out several more variables that would need definition...

 

As an engineer by training, I'd just do an experiment, but I only have two right now, and don't want to have to replace one.

These days you're always running against one big project or another though... you just have to launch, and give it your best shot!

We use polyurethane resin and the miniatures are pretty chunky; in my experience, they just bounce!
I can say that a metal badger would almost certainly suffer damage in that fall, getting flat spots at the least, due to the weight. I've not tried it with a resin one, but I suspect it would be totally unscathed.

Thin miniatures, on the other hand, can snap, the same as metal.

Am I missing something?  I thought that was the squirrel!  a mad rampaging nutbrain with a skirt and a bit pointy stick!
