If you have submitted a class and once it is scheduled with a class ID and everything, It will be held on zoom, using the webinar licence and settings that all the classrooms have. Once approved and you are happy with your class times you will be sent an email getting you set up on Artist alley and doing a practice zoom webinar to test settings and functions. :) each class will have a moderator and a password to enter.  hope this answered some questions.

My extra will probably be melt table fodder

One painters melt is another's treasure...the Melt table is probably in my top three of "Ah shucks we'll miss that this year". Damn you Covid.

Will we need to wait until during/after RConline to buy extra copies of things--the resin figs, paints, etc? I thought I might have heard a rumor that they might be made available on the Store sometime sooner?

Are you doing classes over Twitch or Xoom or have you decided?

Zoom classes

If I understand the Tech, the Twitch Platform would easily allow someone to present a class to 300 or more people who signed up. But it does not support voice interaction. Zoom, (last I heard had security issues) probably has a limit of less than 50 (maybe 24-25) persons plus an instructor. ISDs that tried using it for virtual classrooms would know its limits. Know any teachers? They would be who to ask.

We have purchased the highest tier for Zoom allowing 1000+ per classroom. We also already have our twitch schedule defined and planned. Most (98%) of our instructors for ReaperCon Live will be on Zoom. Hope to see y'all there! :)

Too bad there is not a virtual melt table or a replacement/equivalent… how could it be pirate themed…? Hmmm…

Marooned Miniatures

People post pix of things that would otherwise go to the melt table, and then other people look at the pix, and then somehow the little lumps of lead pewter move through the mail to new homes… …Some of the marooned minis are rescued. (Yay!) There might be an idea in there somewhere. Maybe this all happens in a pair of discord channels or something.

I like Inarah's idea--One years' famine is next years Feast....

@TGP just imagine what next year's table will look like.  It could be like days of yore, with treasures overflowing the table....

I was coming on to mention the "Legendary table of melt". All the excitement for the table these days & I was gonna let people know the current table is nothing compared to the older Con (ie BB Before Bones) days. Just more metal back then. One of my favorite memories of RCon is browsin the table going around it with Bob Ridolfi. We'd go clockwise, stop chat over the parts-minis & move along & do it all over again.

Funny it was at this time, he found a giant "doorstop" (as Julie would call it), of a mini that Julie did waaaay back when. He kept cause of that (that is when Julie said, she'd use it as a doorstop. ). Also Bob saying "I hope this doesn't mean my work isn't liked....." as he kept finding mostly his figures on that table that round.

Melt table is fun time, even if you don't take anything from it. Just starting digging & you'll make friends! Heck it's the way I do my shopping at RCon anymore. Bring dead weight down, bring back home new minis!

Looking ahead, I have some questions.

I have not used Zoom.  Do participants in Zoom webinars require a microphone or webcam to participate, to make comments and ask questions?  Is it possible to watch Zoom events without having a mic or webcam?

How will the text chat on Twitch be handled?  Will there be a moderator to point out the questions and comments related to the topic at hand for the teacher or panel to address?

I have only used Discord for reading text channels.  Will Discord be used for the con?  Will there be voice or video chat there?

Thanks!

1) only the teacher will have audio and video capability, there is a section besides chat on zoom to ask questions called "Q&A".
2) you only need a internet connection and the link to get in *via registration or on the master schedule the day of classes*
3) There will be mods on twitch, collecting questions. There is also a section on the reapercon discord for panel questions and discussion.
4) discord is planned to be used heavily for reapercon, will have alot of text and voice channels. the gaming side of it will handle there voice connection via the gaming sections on discord.
    aswell as open painting areas.

I haven't heard back yet about my class kits, though since I submitted my classes kinda late I'm not surprised. Suffice to say, they will be full of SHINY though! :bday:

When your classes are involved, I expect dragons, I expect shiny and I expect purple (paired with teal).

That works for three of the classes. The fourth one baffles me. Tiny hats?
