Technically the 20th anv is 2024 as ReaperCon 1 was in April or May of 2004.

Heh, I missed that year completely due to I forgot my password to the forum & didn't feel like using the recovery option, so I stayed off the board for a month. When I got back on the board, right after & found out, I was like "Yup, it'll be my first gaming convention but I'm going!" & the rest is history. The Labor Day dates thou are terrible for me thou as Labor Day is a grocery weekend & thus in my work, hard to get off. Especially now due to we had the night manager get fired (thou he was an idiot, as he got caught smokin weed on the back dock during his shift, dumb@$$......) recently. It was a good thing I put in this vacation like in Jan this year! I'll be doing something similar for RCon 2020, hopefully it'll get approved or that'll make 2 years in a row I miss the Con due to Labor Day weekend.

Actually, it's not counted like a wedding anniversary or birthday. This year was RC16, and RC20 will be in 2023.

...and no, it's not too early to look forward to/plan for next year. I've started collecting feedback from classes this year, improving them for next year and looking into new areas and topics.

For MSP Open, there are several WIPs on or near my workbench, left unfinished before making the trip to Denton, so they have already moved up on the schedule. There were a few others barely in the early idea/sketch/planning stage, too, so those will get some consideration. Add in new models picked up this year, new ideas & inspiration, new paints & tools, older projects still waiting their turn...I have more than I can possibly paint and enter for the next few years.

With limited hobby time most of the year, planning, scheduling, and starting work now while the feedback & inspiration are fresh in mind seem like my best options. YMMV.

And I'm in for my 2nd one next year.  Yay!  First one was amazing!

It just gets better!

First year you spend a lot of time learning the ropes/figuring things out.

And next year, "learning the ropes" will be so theme appropriate.

Second year, you will already know how much of the con is supposed to function so you will have even MOAR FUN!

You could have people bring their own miniature that they want to pin/clean up, etc..

If you do that, you will also need a list of suggested/required tools and materials to accomplish certain hands on techniques.

Especially for pinning, which necessitates a pin vise and #60 to80 drillset + nippers, files, hobby knife, and pinning material.

So I was originally planning that I would have to go alone to Reapercon next year. Now I could have up to four other people coming with me! It's going to be interesting seeing how it all pans out, but I'm very excited for next year

It was the first ReaperCon for my husband and I and we had the most fun of any convention we've ever attended. So much so that I joined the forums just to be around you wonderful people more. We really, really want to go back. Now, if I could just convince my mother-in-law to stop planning family activities for Labor Day weekend... We blew her off this year, but I'm not sure if we could get away with it every year. That said, we're already talking about next year like we're going, so...

We got in to the Saturday morning Bones Mashup! It was the best! I hope that they are able to make a category for it or something similar like they were talking about. That seems like it could be fun. I think my husband and I are both considering entering our mashup creations next year. We both love them so much!

Welcome!

When you get some time drop in to the Off Topic Rampancy area.

We are about to finish up Randomness thread number 15 and you can observe/participate in the final destruction of a thread and the birth of a whole new thousand pages of well intentioned nonsense.

If you see stuff in purple it is meant as sarcasm or other not to be taken seriously nonsense.

Tell your MIL that you have to go to training classes.  Which is true if you sign up for any of the Reaper U Classes.

I'll share an open secret with you - it only gets better.  Because next year you will already know how much of the Con-stuff works.

Thank you for the welcome, @Green Eyed Monster! I saw you all over the place, but never got the chance to say hi and introduce myself. You were on my Bingo card! I plan to set that right next year, bingo card or not.

Unless I have the time crunch of being at a specific place at a specific time, my time belongs to the fellow attendees.  I love meeting new people at the Con, as it really helps me to put an actual person with the online avatar.

Next year, run me down and don't quite tackle me.  Just scream as you approach.:poke:

Tackling is not advisable as by the next ReaperCon my "factory warranty" will have expired.

He must have been in the military.  It's a common observation there.

Considering how dead tired I was after the con (stayed awake for ~36+ hours), suddenly returning to work was... not fun.

I think I learned, my lesson. In the future, I'll take an extra day's vacation to recuperate.
